Job Description
We’re looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of large-scale power infrastructure solutions.
This is a hands-on, technical leadership role, not a people management position. You’ll operate as a subject matter expert in industrial power systems, shaping complex designs, guiding project teams, and partnering directly with customers on mission-critical solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Lead end-to-end electrical system design for industrial and mission-critical projects
- Own system architecture across MV/LV distribution, substations, and backup power systems
- Act as the technical authority on complex, high-value projects
- Develop and review:
- Single line diagrams
- Protection and coordination studies
- Schematics and equipment layouts
- Partner directly with customers to define robust, scalable power solutions
- Provide technical leadership across multiple concurrent projects (often 10–15+)
- Mentor engineers and elevate technical capability across the team
What Sets This Role Apart
- True technical leadership role, no people management required
- Work on large-scale, complex electrical infrastructure, not small commercial systems
- High visibility with customers and leadership
- Opportunity to shape engineering standards and system design approaches
Qualifications
- 15–20+ years in electrical engineering
- PE license highly preferred
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering (Master’s in Physics or Math related highly desirable)
- Deep expertise in industrial power systems (“big wires”)
- Strong experience with:
- MV/LV distribution
- Substations, switchgear, transformers
- Generators and UPS systems
- Protection & coordination (SEL relays preferred)
- Background in industrial, utility, data center, or large infrastructure projects
- Experience with industrial engineering firms
You may currently be a:
- Principal / Lead Engineer at an engineering firm working on large industrial projects
- Senior engineer ready to step into a technical authority role
- Power systems specialist in an industrial EPC, utility, or mission-critical environment
