We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Demi Chef de Partie to join our culinary team. This role is perfect for a chef who is passionate about high‑quality food preparation, eager to grow their skills, and committed to supporting smooth kitchen operations. You will work closely with the Chef de Partie to prepare dishes, maintain standards, and ensure efficient service delivery.
Job Description
As Demi Chef, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the Executive Chef in preparing appetizers, meats, and vegetables for entrees
- Ensuring proper food presentation and timely service of high-quality dishes
- Participating in the selection and training of new kitchen team members
- Following and enforcing health and safety standards in the kitchen
- Maintaining a high level of cleanliness in the kitchen and personal hygiene
- Working efficiently and quickly under pressure
- Collaborating with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
- Monitoring food quality and consistency throughout service
- Assisting in menu planning and development
- Managing inventory and placing orders for necessary ingredients
- Implementing portion control and minimizing food waste
- Maintaining and properly operating kitchen equipment
- Adhering to food cost guidelines and budget constraints
- Staying updated on culinary trends and techniques
- Participating in regular kitchen meetings and briefings
Qualifications
- Diploma/Certificate in culinary or food production
- Must have worked at least one year as Demi Chef in five-star establishment or luxury safari lodge
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
- Strongly committed to teamwork and customer service
- Eye for detail to achieve operation excellence
- Proficiency in various cooking techniques and cuisines
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Proficiency in menu planning and recipe development
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and maintenance procedures
- Basic computer skills for inventory management and order processing
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Passion for culinary arts and staying updated on industry trends
