Job Description
Oaks Queenstown Shores Resort are looking for motivated and experienced Assistant Bar Manager to support the day-to-day operations of our bar. You will lead by example on the floor, support staff development, and help maintain high standards across service, compliance, and presentation.
Our property has been completely refurbished, unveiling a brand-new upscale dining and bar experience with panoramic views of Lake Wakatipu.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily bar operations with a focus on premium guest experiences.
- Support the Bar Manager in training, mentoring, and motivating the team.
- Oversee stock control, beverage ordering, and supplier relationships.
- Contribute to the creation and delivery of a dynamic cocktail and beverage offering.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing, health, and safety standards.
- Work closely with the wider F&B team to deliver seamless, memorable dining experiences.
About the Venue
Our recently refurbished property introduces a sophisticated dining and bar experience, showcasing panoramic views over Lake Wakatipu.
- Newly refurbished, upscale hotel food and beverage operation
- Curated wine cellar featuring some of New Zealand’s finest wines
- Seasonal menu by Chef Gerhard Gerber, focused on seasonal New Zealand seafood, meats, and produce
Shift Details (subject to change):
- Full time position
- Wednesday through to Sunday
- Shifts are scheduled between 2.00pm-10.30pm

Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Previous leadership experience in a high-end bar, restaurant, or hotel environment.
- Strong knowledge of wines, cocktails, and premium spirits.
- A passion for hospitality and creating unforgettable guest experiences.
- Proven ability to lead, inspire, and grow a team.
- Organised, hands-on, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
