Job Description

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of duties. NH Maldives Kuda Rah team members are expected to be flexible and proactive in supporting the resort, guests, and colleagues. The Recreation Attendant is a guest-facing role responsible for delivering exceptional recreational and experiential services in a luxury 5-star resort environment. The position combines guest relations, sales, event coordination, and excursion guiding, ensuring guests enjoy memorable, personalized experiences throughout their stay.

This role requires proactive engagement with guests, effective upselling of excursions and activities, seamless coordination of recreational events, and acting as a knowledgeable and professional excursion guide, while upholding the highest standards of service, safety, and brand excellence expected in a Maldivian luxury resort.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Guest Experience & Service Excellence

  • Provide warm, professional, and personalized service to all guests from arrival to departure.
  • Act as a knowledgeable ambassador of the resort, island, and Maldivian culture.
  • Anticipate guest needs and proactively recommend suitable excursions, activities, and experiences.
  • Handle guest inquiries, feedback, and special requests efficiently and courteously.

Excursion Sales & Upselling

  • Actively promote and upselling resort excursions, recreational activities, and special events to maximize revenue.
  • Clearly explain excursion details, itineraries, safety requirements, pricing, and inclusions.
  • Achieve departmental sales targets through effective selling techniques and guest engagement.
  • Process excursion bookings accurately using the resort’s booking system.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all recreational offerings, seasonal programs, and promotions.

Event & Activity Organization

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute daily and weekly guest activities and recreational events.
  • Assist in organizing special events such as beach activities, lagoon clean-ups, cultural experiences, themed evenings, and group excursions.
  • Ensure all events are well-prepared, properly communicated, and executed to 5-star standards.
  • Coordinate with other departments (Housekeeping, F&B, Sports, Security) to ensure smooth event operations.

Excursion Guiding & Hosting

  • Serve as an excursion guide for selected activities such as island hopping, snorkeling trips, sunset cruises, dolphin cruises, and cultural tours.
  • Deliver engaging and informative briefings before excursions, including safety guidelines.
  • Ensure guests’ comfort, safety, and enjoyment throughout the excursion.
  • Share knowledge about marine life, local culture, history, and the natural environment.
  • Maintain control and professionalism during excursions, responding promptly to guest needs or emergencies.

Safety, Compliance & Environmental Responsibility

  • Ensure all excursions and activities comply with resort SOPs, safety standards, and local regulations.
  • Conduct or assist with safety briefings and ensure guests follow safety instructions at all times.
  • Promote environmental awareness and responsible tourism practices, especially marine conservation.
  • Report any incidents, hazards, or guest concerns immediately to management.

Administrative & Operational Duties

  • Maintain accurate records of bookings, attendance, revenue, and guest feedback.
  • Assist with daily activity schedules, signage, and guest communications.
  • Support inventory control of recreational equipment and supplies.
  • Prepare daily reports as required by management.

Teamwork & Professional Standards

  • Work collaboratively with Front Office, Recreation, and Island Host team.
  • Maintain professional grooming, appearance, and behavior in line with 5-star resort standards.
  • Participate in training sessions, briefings, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
  • Uphold the resort’s brand values, service culture, and guest satisfaction goals at all times.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Certificate or equivalent; Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, Recreation, or Guest Services is an advantage.
  • 1 year’ experience in Front Office, Recreation, Guest Relations, Excursions, or a similar guest-facing role within a 4 or 5-star resort environment.
  • Previous experience in upselling excursions, activities, or tours preferred.
  • Experience as an excursion guide or activity host is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of resort recreational activities, marine excursions, and guest experiences.
  • Good understanding of Maldivian culture, marine life, and environmental conservation (or willingness to learn).
  • Basic computer literacy with experience using PMS, booking systems, or POS is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; additional languages (e.g., Italian, Russian, Arabic, German, French, or Chinese) are a strong advantage.
  • Valid First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to swim confidently; snorkeling/diving knowledge is an advantage.
