Job Description

As the Assistant Reservations Manager you will directly support the Manager and the Director of Reservations in ensuring the success of the department and Minor Hotels.  You will demonstrate superior leadership skills through driving the performance of reservations team members. You will have superior knowledge of all systems and Standard Operating Procedures to provide guidance to the team. Showcase your passion for people development through delivering constructive feedback, coaching and training. Take ownership of escalation cases with adept problem solving skills and flexibility within boundaries, balancing the needs of the guest and the business. Your goals of improving reservations operations by focusing on a high degree of accuracy, maximizing revenue and driving superior service for guests and team members, will contribute to our shared success. Some responsibilities include:

  • Leading the team in the absence of senior management.
  • Ensure smooth operations of the department and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Maintaining course to achieve set business goals for both the department and individual team members.
  • Be a hands-on leader effectively handling incoming reservations requests, follow-ups, reporting and rostering so all administrative requirements are completed.
  • Encourage salesmanship by team members in cross-selling & up-selling and to capture opportunities through all distribution channels.
  • Uphold our high standards of quality and perform audits on team outputs.
  • Lead a motivational and cohesive team in a multicultural setting both within the department and with other colleagues.
  • Follow all reasonable work-related request made by your Manager which may be outside your normal job activities, to achieve complete guest satisfaction and service.

Qualifications

  • College degree in hotel management.
  • Fluent in English, and fair in one other language
  • Four years experience preferably in hotel reservations and/or hospitality rooms division operations.
  • Familiar with the hotel operations available technology (PMS & RMS) and all distribution channels.
  • Understand the dynamics of regional & local market, local competitors and events of the destination.
  • Excellent comprehension and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills & experience working in a big team
  • Experience training and coaching high performing teams
  • Reliability and flexibility as required to meet business trends and demands.
  • Ability to multi-task as well as work under pressure.
  • Ability to work a rotating roster.
