Technical Accounting Senior Manager
Overview
Strategy (MSTR) is seeking a Technical Accounting Senior Manager to support one of the most dynamic and innovative finance functions in the market. This role sits at the intersection of the Company’s Bitcoin treasury strategy, capital markets execution, and SEC reporting, requiring strong technical expertise and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
You will play a key role in evaluating complex transactions, supporting external reporting, and helping scale the accounting and control infrastructure as the company continues to evolve its Bitcoin-centric financial strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Accounting & Policy
Lead technical accounting research and documentation for complex transactions, including:
Digital assets (Bitcoin treasury activities)
Debt and equity capital market activity (convertible debt, preferred stock, ATM programs)
Strategic transactions and new business initiatives
Draft and maintain accounting position papers and memos in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC guidance
Partner with auditors to support accounting conclusions and resolve technical matters
SEC Reporting & Disclosures
Support preparation and review of SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, prospectus supplements)
Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statement disclosures, including emerging areas such as crypto accounting
Collaborate with legal, FP&A, and investor relations on disclosure matters
Capital Markets & Strategic Transactions
Provide accounting support for capital markets activity, including:
Equity and preferred stock issuances
ATM programs and shelf registrations
Coordinate with internal and external auditors on comfort letters, consents, and transaction execution
Evaluate accounting implications of new structures and financing strategies
Partner closely with external auditors on technical positions and emerging accounting topics
Internal Controls & SOX
Assess and document internal control implications of new and complex transactions
Partner with Internal Audit and external auditors to support SOX 404 compliance
Ensure appropriate controls are designed and operating effectively, particularly in evolving areas such as digital assets
Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner with Treasury, Legal, Tax, IT and Finance teams to drive alignment on accounting and reporting outcomes
Support system implementations (e.g., ERP, crypto subledger tools etc) from an accounting and controls perspective
Drive process improvements to enhance scalability, efficiency, and control
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA required
7–10+ years of experience in technical accounting and SEC reporting (Big 4 + public company preferred)
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
Experience with complex transactions (debt, equity, capital markets) required
Exposure to digital assets / crypto accounting is a strong plus
Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with tight deadlines
