Job Description
Basic Function: The Video Editor will support the Video Manager on any project requiring post-production. This could mean anything from editing fast-paced promotional content, long-form webinar content, glossy customer testimonials, and technical product updates. This role is mostly technical, with the editor working on video projects assigned to them as needed. However, the video editor should be prepared on occasion to bring creative ingenuity to video projects requiring additional effort, including participating in production meetings and sharing ideas on how to execute video projects. The video editor will also be asked to attend meetings regularly so they can stay in the loop about related projects underway within the Web/Design/Video Brand team.
The Video Brand Team produces video content for MicroStrategy's website and YouTube channel, but also for our annual World conference and other special projects with customers, vendors, and partners. We provide video support to all areas of the company too, from local teams based in Tyson’s Corner to executives based in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
The ideal candidate for this role is comfortable working under tight deadlines and should be intimately familiar with a variety of NLE platforms. Experience in Davinci Resolve is great, but not required. We do most of our filming with Canon c200 cameras and we’re an Adobe Creative Suite shop that uses Premiere and After Effects exclusively for our post-production work. As most of our content is about data analytics technology, a familiarity with high technology is a big plus, though not required.
Job Duties (include but not limited to):
- Edit videos as assigned by the Video Manager or other Marketing Leadership members.
- Maintain Adobe project files, and all associated files, in the cloud following a project’s completion.
- Ensure deliverables are exported in appropriate file formats with backups maintained both locally and in the cloud.
- Leverage your experience and expertise to enhance content that promotes the MicroStrategy brand.
- Support media management efforts to curate and organize content library on Wistia.
- Consult with internal teams interested in producing video content to guide them through the production and post-production process.
- May be asked to support remote recording using Zoom or Streamyard for digital events outside the US.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Film/Television, Multimedia Arts, Journalism, Communication, Marketing, or a related area of study
- 3-5 years of professional video production experience
- Proficiency in Adobe suite: Premiere, After Effects, Audition and image editing software such as Photoshop, Lightroom or Illustrator. Basic to intermediate animation skills using After Effects not required, but a big plus.
- Proficiency in Canon Cameras and lenses (c200’s) and Sony FS 5’s is preferred but not required
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams in particular.
- Aptitude for shot composition, visual design, overlay effects, and sound mixing
- Experience working with senior executives on high-level brand content optional, but preferred
- Knowledge of digital production tools, conversion tools, multiple video formats/codecs, and cross-platform optimization
- Creative self-starter who can work well on a team
- Strong attention to detail and great oral and written communication skills
