This opportunity is part of the Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations team (GTIO), where our mission is to deliver modern and relevant technology that supports the way McDonald’s works. We provide best-in-class foundational technology products and services including Global Networking, Cloud, End User Computing, and IT Service Management. The Senior Manager, Hardware Asset Management, is part of the Restaurant Hardware & Infrastructure team, reporting to the Director of Infrastructure & Operations Platforms.  This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to effectively manage the lifecycle of hardware assets, including point-of-sale (POS) systems, servers, network infrastructure, and other in-restaurant technology devices.  This individual will partner closely with the Vendor Management Office and Global Sourcing teams to ensure vendors are able to meet forecast demand across all markets for all hardware assets.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technology leader to help shape the transformation of infrastructure and operations products and services to the entire McDonalds environment.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive hardware asset management strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives.  Think outside the box to consider new sourcing and hardware lifecycle management opportunities available at global scale.
  • Lead a team of hardware asset management professionals to provide asset and configuration management support including auditing, reporting, training, and database upkeep
  • Define asset management requirements and standards and solutions for both in-house assets and vendor managed assets
  • Drive continuous reporting on asset lifecycles to customer facing and back-office solution owners; partner with market teams to develop forecasts for suppliers to plan against
  • Create asset lifecycle framework and drive cost reductions and efficiency gains
  • Create processes and procedures, and provide training to support technicians and other stakeholders
  • Implement and monitor processes to ensure the accuracy of hardware, software, and configuration items
  • Manage and coordinate physical inspection, evaluation, and rating of McDonald’s restaurant infrastructure platform
  • Forecast additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor expenditures; implement adjustments, as necessary
  • Monitor industry trends and developments in hardware asset management, identifying opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
  • Partner with Global Sourcing and the Vendor Management Office to collaborate with vendors and service providers to negotiate contracts, service level agreements, and maintenance/support agreements, ensuring optimal value and performance.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports and metrics on hardware asset management activities, including asset utilization, cost analysis, compliance, and risk assessments, to stakeholders and senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of technical product management or relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 6+ years relevant experience with a Master’s degree.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in hardware asset management, preferably in a multi-location environment, such as the retail or restaurant industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to tackle technical opportunity areas from an unclear problem statement, driving clarity, understanding and discussing technical concepts, managing trade-offs, and evaluating potential concepts with internal and external partners
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop project business cases, and measure success.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills, with the ability to evolve product / service strategy based on research, data, and industry trends.
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills, with the ability to translate theory into practical application.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships across diverse stakeholders, including technical and non-technical teams.
  • Understand customer centricity, and lead product / service evolution with that mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated technical expertise managing hardware asset lifecycles
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of hardware asset management principles, processes, and best practices, including procurement, deployment, tracking, maintenance, and retirement.
  • Familiarity with asset tracking systems and tools, such as IT service management (ITSM) software or configuration management databases (CMDB).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze complex data, identify trends, and propose effective solutions.
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards related to hardware asset management, such as IT asset management (ITAM) frameworks or ISO 55000.
  • Experience in negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships.
  • Proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, multi-location environment
  • Deep understanding of global complexities and differences between markets / regions
