Job Description
What is the purpose of this role?
The key objectives of this role are to:
- Unleash the “power of people” as a competitive differentiator by driving a best-in-class employment experience for Crew and Managers in McDonald’s restaurants with the aim of improving engagement and customer service.
- To create and implement employment and engagement programs that promote McDonald’s as a gold standard employer in the community, for example – pathways for unemployed youth, diversity programs.
- Take a leading role in the continued improvement of restaurant people practices, improving the supporting technology and policy infrastructure to ensure that McDonald’s remains a best-practice employer.
- Provide valuable people insights, to enable strategic people planning and business decision making.
What will my key accountabilities be?
Employer Reputation:
- Work with the People Leadership Team to develop a People Brand Strategy to showcase McDonald’s EVP both internally and externally.
- Develop and manage activities, publications and events to amplify and publicise McDonald’s EVP both internally, externally and with KOLs.
- Function as the liaison with the National Marketing Team, Digital Team and Corporate Relations Team in the development and execution of any people brand related marketing or advertising.
- Plan and execute employment initiatives and campaigns that position McDonald’s as an employer of choice in the Australian employment marketplace, in collaboration with McDonald’s Marketing and Corporate Communications teams.
- Work closely with the Chief People Officer and National Employee Relations Manager on identifying and actioning opportunities to continuously improve McDonald’s people practices and supporting technology and systems, to ensure McDonald’s maintains our pole position as a best-in-class employer.
- Partner with stakeholders to deliver employment programs that align with our corporate values and harness McDonald’s scale for good.
- Work with McDonald’s People Team, Legal Team and Operations Teams to develop and share best practices across national operations and with our Licensees. Play a role in educating and supporting Operations and Licensees with people brand opportunities to support people across the full employee lifecycle.
- Interact with the Global Centre of Excellence team to share knowledge on employment brand protection, and identify and share examples of best practice in employer reputation that the Global system might wish to scale.
Employee Engagement and Recognition:
- Manage employee engagement data collections/survey and ensure the business has actionable insight to understand the drivers of engagement/sentiment, and also the performance of the business in relation to campaigns and programs.
- Own, manage and implement programs focused on improving employee engagement in our restaurants.
- Consult with Operations and Licensees regarding employee engagement and employer branding initiatives to improve engagement and overall brand reputation.
- Plan and execute employee engagement and recognition programs.
- Educate and support Operations and Licensees to drive engagement and employee recognition.
People Practices:
- Own the technology and policy infrastructure that supports McDonald’s people, seeking continuous improvement for efficiency and business and legislative alignment. Continually seek out improved ways to operate.
People Insights:
- Conduct and maintain essential data collection on hiring, exits, turnover etc. and create required regular reporting both locally and Globally.
- Utilise a variety of data to develop insights and produce recommendations to the business for improvements in process, systems or training. – engagement, retention, people brand etc
- Manage confidential employee input channels, including but not limited to: engagement surveys (above), entry and exit surveys.
People Projects:
- Take on additional projects or responsibilities as directed by the People Leadership Team.
- Create, own and implement people projects that support the business to drive simplification, hospitality and best in class people practices.
- Lead and drive the change management process for people projects to shift culture, behaviours, processes and decisions to cater for business transformation.
- Participate in Cross Functional Teams (CFTs) representing People & Culture where needed.
