McD Tech Labs is the recently established Silicon Valley based technology development group within McDonald’s Corporation. Our mission is to deliver advanced technology solutions that address real-world, data-driven needs in the McDonald’s Restaurant environment. We are passionate about using state-of-the-art Machine Learning, AI, and related technologies along with McDonald’s unparalleled scale to completely transform the customer experience! 

We are currently looking for a committed leader to establish and lead our data organization at McD Tech Labs. This role reports directly to the Head of Engineering and will serve as part of the Engineering Leadership Team. The Director will lead teams focused on ML evaluation, performance analytics, data engineering, and triage. 

The ideal candidate will have previous experience leading technical teams, guiding data vision in global-scale heterogenous ecosystem, and a passion for building agile and high-performing teams to deliver innovative machine learning data and analytics. 

Responsibilities: 

• Lead a team of Data Scientists, Analysts and Engineers to analyze, curate and improve various data stages of machine learning development lifecycle (e.g. Data Exploration, Sampling, Evaluation Dataset Curation, Quality and Performance Analytics) 

• Create big data and batch/real-time analytical solutions that leverage state-of-the-art technologies operating in petabyte scale 

• Organize, analyze and visualize large sets of data using multiple platforms 

• Translate complex requirements from the business, product team, and operations into detailed architecture, design, and high performing software 

• Code, test, and document new or modified data systems to create robust and scalable applications for data analytics 

• Work with Data Scientists and developers across diverse data ecosystem to make sure that all data solutions are consistent 

• Recruit, develop, and collaborate with Data Scientists to develop standards and processes for integration projects and initiatives

• Experience building and leading a team of Data Scientists and Data Engineers 

• 5+ years in management/executive role 

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in data science or analytics 

• Master’s or PhD Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field 

• Understanding of high-performance algorithms 

• Experience in state-of-the-art data techniques for large-scale machine learning pipelines 

• Strong acumen in business and product analytics – proven ability to understand business drivers and value-creation chain 

• Demonstrated ability to partner with and influence executives and leaders across teams globally
