Job Description
An accountant prepares, analyzes, and reports financial information so that a company or client can stay compliant, understand performance, and make informed business decisions.
Core responsibilities
Record and reconcile financial transactions, manage accounts payable/receivable, and handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
Prepare financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Compute taxes, prepare tax returns, and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, laws, and regulations.
Analysis and advisory
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and risks, then provide recommendations to improve profitability and control costs.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes, helping management plan for revenue, expenses, and cash flow.
Coordinate with internal and external auditors, respond to audit queries, and help strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.
Qualifications
Skills and requirements
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and relevant regulations, along with proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheets.
Attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and analytical skills to manage large volumes of financial data.
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance; certifications such as CA, CPA, or CMA are often preferred or required for advanced roles.
