Job Description

An accountant prepares, analyzes, and reports financial information so that a company or client can stay compliant, understand performance, and make informed business decisions.​

Core responsibilities

  • Record and reconcile financial transactions, manage accounts payable/receivable, and handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.​

  • Prepare financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.​

  • Compute taxes, prepare tax returns, and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, laws, and regulations.​

Analysis and advisory

  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and risks, then provide recommendations to improve profitability and control costs.​

  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes, helping management plan for revenue, expenses, and cash flow.​

  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors, respond to audit queries, and help strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.​

Qualifications

Skills and requirements

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and relevant regulations, along with proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheets.​

  • Attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and analytical skills to manage large volumes of financial data.​

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance; certifications such as CA, CPA, or CMA are often preferred or required for advanced roles.​
