Job Description

The Senior Finish Excellence Specialist provides technical expertise and leadership to drive improvements in-plant finishing operations as well as implement new finish options and techniques into our facility. This individual will network with finish material suppliers, finish equipment suppliers, MasterBrand product and design team as well as other facilities' finish specialists in order to identify solutions and best practices for our finishing operations. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Execute projects that target improvements to key finish metrics 
  • Lead development and qualification of new finish launches 
  • Review all finish material changes and provide data-driven rationale for all changes 
  • Network with finish specialists throughout MasterBrand
  • Provide technical training to manufacturing leadership and associates 
  • Drive completion of projects executed by the finish suppliers 
  • Identify, establish, and translate best practices within the plants 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • Industrial finishing experience (wood finish preferred) in a high production facility 
  • Recent college graduates with mechanical/industrial/chemical engineering or technology degrees will also be considered 
  • Mechanical knowledge of pumps, fluid handling systems, etc. preferred 
  • Knowledge of wood finishing coatings preferred 
  • Current Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification a plus 
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills 
  • Proven driver of continuous improvement in a manufacturing process 
  • Ability to manage projects while also providing hands-on, shop floor solutions and support 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to travel as business needs may require - expected to be around 10%
