Email Marketing Manager

  • Full-time
  • Compensation: GBP 36900 - GBP 41000 - yearly

Job Description

You’ll join Marie Curie’s Digital Marketing. The team focused on building a modern, data-led approach to marketing, playing a central role in how we engage supporters. Working closely with Fundraising, CRM, Data & Insight and Creative teams, you’ll help deliver integrated, audience-first campaigns that drive both income and long-term supporter relationships.

As Email Marketing Manager, you’ll own the strategy and delivery of Marie Curie’s email and owned-channel programme. From campaign execution to lifecycle journeys and personalisation, you’ll ensure every message is timely, relevant and impactful. Your work will directly contribute to increasing supporter engagement, improving conversion, and growing income - helping Marie Curie reach more people and provide vital care and support across the UK.

This is a high-impact role at a pivotal moment, as we invest in new technology, including Dynamics 365, and expand our use of email, SMS and WhatsApp to transform how we connect with supporters.

Your Impact:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of email campaigns, from planning and build through to testing, deployment and optimisation.
  • Own the owned-channel programme across email, SMS and WhatsApp, ensuring a joined-up, audience-first supporter experience.
  • Develop and optimise automated lifecycle journeys (welcome, nurture, conversion, retention and re-engagement).
  • Work with data teams to deliver segmentation and personalisation strategies that improve relevance and performance.
  • Manage the communications calendar, balancing multiple campaigns and priorities across teams.
  • Drive a test-and-learn approach, continuously improving performance through experimentation and insight.
  • Monitor and report on performance, translating data into clear recommendations and actions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across fundraising, digital, CRM and creative teams to deliver integrated campaigns.
  • Line manage and develop a small team, supporting their growth and performance.
  • Ensure all activity meets GDPR, PECR and data governance standards, maintaining strong compliance across channels.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience managing email marketing programmes, ideally in a charity or customer-focused environment.
  • Strong understanding of email marketing best practice, including deliverability, accessibility and conversion optimisation.
  • Experience using marketing automation platforms (e.g. DotDigital, Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar).
  • Demonstrable experience developing automated journeys and lifecycle communications.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret performance data and drive improvements.
  • Experience with audience segmentation and personalisation.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Previous experience managing or mentoring team members.
