Nestled within the alpine woodlands at the gateway to the breathtaking Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, Cradle Mountain Hotel offers guests an unforgettable wilderness escape. Featuring 60 guest rooms, the award-winning Altitude Restaurant, indulgent spa facilities and the renowned Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery, the hotel delivers exceptional hospitality in one of Australia's most spectacular locations.

We're seeking an experienced and commercially minded General Manager to lead this iconic property. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll drive operational excellence, foster a high-performing team culture and deliver exceptional guest experiences while achieving strong commercial outcomes.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead, coach and develop the leadership team to deliver exceptional operational performance and guest satisfaction.
  • Drive financial performance through effective budgeting, forecasting, reporting and cost management.
  • Oversee business planning and budget development for the property.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, legislative and company requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local community groups, tourism partners and key stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic oversight of the Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery, working closely with the Gallery Manager to enhance visitor experiences and commercial performance.
  • Champion a positive team culture that reflects our values and commitment to service excellence.
  • Travel intrastate as required.

What you’ll bring:  

  • 5+ years' senior leadership experience as a General Manager or Assistant General Manager in hotel property management
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting and operational performance.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A hands-on leadership style with the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
  • Experience in remote area tourism/hospitality operations
  • Current and valid Working with Vulnerable People check (WWVP)
  • Ability to hold licensee accreditation
  • First aid certification

Highly desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in hospitality, business, or a related field are highly regarded.
