What You’ll Do
Step into a high-impact role at the heart of our People Services team, where you will lead governance and compliance across People & Culture operations, with a focus on payroll compliance. The People & Culture Compliance Specialist will ensure our processes and policies not only meet legislative requirements but also support our people and business to thrive.
This role is 12-month maximum term contract role offering a hybrid work opportunity where you will be required to work across our Sydney CBD and Sydney Olympic Park offices as well as some work from home.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Implement the P&C Compliance Framework and ensure completion of control assessments and self-assessment reporting.
- Work closely with the General Manager Industrial Relations, People Operations & Compliance and the Employee Relations team to understand legislation and requirements and ensure P&C policies adhere to legislation.
- Ensure that P&C processes and systems adhere to legislation and P&C policies, monitoring changes in legislation and updating processes and policies where required.
- Implement the Payroll Compliance Strategy and Payroll Review Plan.
- Take end-to-end responsibility for annual payroll risk-based reviews, including payroll data extraction, payroll rule interpretation, variance calculations and remediation.
- Document agreed payroll rule interpretation in Award/EA rule books and support payroll audit work as required.
- Promote a culture of payroll compliance, ethical behaviour and accountability across the function.
- Build strong stakeholder and communication management to foster good relationships across the business.
- Develop business acumen across NRMA’s core business and actively participate in internal team development activities.
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years’ experience within a role with compliance focus, coupled with tertiary qualification
- 5+ years’ experience within a payroll officer / auditor role
- Ability to navigate and use payroll systems to extract pay rules, data and to undertake payroll remediation work
- Solid understanding of compliance principles
- Advanced investigative skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Developed written and verbal communication skills
- Exposure and understanding of People / HR systems (desirable)
