Job Description
The Data Integrity team within the Business Data Office operates and improves the firm's Master Data Management (MDM) platform. As a Data Operations Analyst, you will own daily operational activities, monitor data supply and quality, and resolve exceptions to maintain accurate, controlled and reliable enterprise data.
Working collaboratively with business stakeholders, technology and product owners, you will help automate diffing and reconciliation processes and support new metadata and data catalogue tooling. You will bring a detail-oriented, pragmatic approach, communicating issues clearly and balancing daily delivery with improvements that strengthen controls and reduce manual effort.
Key Responsibilities
- Run daily MDM operations: Manage scheduled data ingestion, processing and supply activities, monitor completion and resolve or escalate failures to ensure accurate, complete and timely data delivery.
- Manage diffing and reconciliations: Review differences between source systems and MDM, investigate exceptions, validate proposed updates and execute approved changes through controlled processes with clear audit trails.
- Help drive diffing automation: Work with technology partners to define requirements, prioritise improvements and test automated comparison, validation and update processes, reducing manual intervention while maintaining effective controls.
- Investigate and resolve data issues: Analyse operational exceptions using SQL and data profiling, coordinate remediation with business and technology teams, and support root-cause investigation to prevent recurring problems.
- Manage operational requests: Coordinate data requests and incidents through Jira Service Management, ensuring appropriate prioritisation, clear ownership, timely follow-up and effective communication of progress and business impact.
- Monitor data quality and operational performance: Maintain dashboards and metrics covering data quality, data supply reliability, aged differences, exception volumes and resolution times, using trends to identify risks and target measurable improvements.
- Support new metadata tooling: Contribute operational requirements, support metadata onboarding and validation, document working processes and help users adopt new metadata management and data catalogue capabilities.
- Support platform changes and releases: Provide operational input to enhancements, coordinate business testing and validate reconciliations and controls, ensuring changes are documented and ready for daily operational use.
- Strengthen controls and continuous improvement: Maintain operating procedures and evidence of key checks, identify opportunities to simplify workflows and automate repetitive activities, and share practical improvements across the team.
Qualifications
- 5+ years’ relevant experience in Data Operations, Data Management, Data Quality or related analytical roles.
- Hands-on experience operating or supporting MDM platforms or comparable enterprise data platforms.
- Experience with reconciliations, data quality monitoring, operational controls and managing data exceptions, incidents and requests.
- Strong SQL, analytical and troubleshooting skills, with an understanding of relational databases and data flows.
- Experience working with technology teams to test and implement operational improvements and automation; Python knowledge desirable.
- Awareness of metadata management and data catalogue concepts; hands-on tooling experience desirable.
