Job Description
At MSX we exist to empower movers and makers to thrive in an ever-changing world, by harnessing our expertise and creativity to deliver an exceptional service powered by technology and innovative solutions.
This role owns MSX’s internal Data Platform, a Databricks-based environment built on Microsoft Azure. The platform’s scope includes data pipelines, analytics-enabling datasets and integration services that connect upstream and downstream systems. The Product Owner defines the strategic direction, translates business needs into a prioritised roadmap and works across engineering, architecture and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, well-governed data capabilities.
This is a strategic, cross-functional role. It requires someone comfortable operating in ambiguity, building platform disciplines where they don’t yet fully exist and influencing delivery outcomes without direct authority over all teams.
Roadmap & Backlog Ownership
- Own the product roadmap and backlog for the Data Platform, translating enterprise strategy and stakeholder needs into a prioritised delivery plan.
- Write detailed specifications and user stories for data pipelines, integration services and analytics enabling features.
- Evaluate the impact of change requests on upstream and downstream data flows, reporting layers and dependent services.
Delivery Leadership
- Collaborate with engineering teams to plan and execute sprints, removing roadblocks and maintaining delivery momentum.
- Drive the delivery of scalable, automated and observable data services across the platform.
- Establish and refine product-centric delivery frameworks that promote continuous improvement and manage technical debt.
Platform Operations & Lifecycle Management
- Own the operational lifecycle of the Data Platform, ensuring production services meet defined standards for security monitoring, reliability and availability.
- Establish and maintain support procedures, incident response processes and runbooks for platform operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
- Product Management and/or Agile certification is an advantage.
- Relevant certification or experience in data, analytics or integration technologies is an advantage.
Experience
- 5+ years in product management within data, analytics, or integration domains.
- Proven track record delivering data platforms in complex, enterprise-scale environments, ideally including building platform capabilities from an early stage.
- Deep understanding of modern data architectures (e.g. Lakehouse, medallion, API-driven) and integration patterns (API, ESB, event-driven, ETL/ELT).
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and at least one integration or ETL platform (e.g. CloverDX or similar).
- Solid grounding in agile product delivery, including backlog management, sprint planning, and roadmap planning (Scrum experience an advantage).
Skills & Attributes
- Able to define platform-level KPIs and outcome metrics and use data to drive prioritisation decisions.
- Experienced in influencing without direct authority across teams and business stakeholders.
- Strong communicator who can translate technical complexity into clear language for senior leadership and non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, able to establish governance, ownership boundaries and delivery cadence in environments where these are still maturing.
Solid understanding of data governance, data quality, lineage and compliance requirements.
