Job Description
The terminal operations team is responsible for the development, establishment, and maintenance of the business relationships with ports and terminals. The Terminal operations team oversees tariff rates, productivity, terminal fluidity, rail productivity and gates. As well as monitoring terminal and yard congestion, to avoid delays in berthing, operations and enhance productivity.
The team is also oriented towards cost savings on terminal operations by reducing import/export storage, rail dwell, empty pool, assisting GVA OPS for contract negotiations etc...
Position Summary
Providing an excellent service for internal colleagues and MSC GVA colleagues in every written and verbal communication. The operations Representative is responsible for ensuring effective delivery of terminal operations objectives across our Canadian ports, maintaining great relationship with terminal contacts, and providing highly accurate reporting and scheduling to various stakeholders both inside and outside the Agency. The operations representative will back up the port captain when not available and will be planning monitoring live port activities, including allocations of resources (berth, operations, gate, yard utilizations and cargo readiness)
Key accountabilities
Act as liaison between the MSC Agency and terminals
- Verifying port, terminal, and vessel related invoices.
- Creating and maintaining the regular sailing report, ERD & Cut-offs on terminal.
- Creating and maintaining the terminal operations reporting.
- Communicating and applying vessel changes and omissions
- Produce the ACI and A6 to CBSA.
Port Captain back up:
- Coordinate and oversee vessel operations, ensuring that conditions are in place to minimize port stay
- Highlight deviations from the berthing plan to the network department and propose solutions that will improve the prospects for the network as a whole
- Act promptly to secure the best possible outcome for our vessels alongside by following operations closely and reacting to change in circumstances
- Maintain the berthing program application including the proforma berthing elements
- Weekly report in the Event manager to share results, success, and challenges of the week
- Record all events in the Event manager to make interested parties aware
- Vessel incidents and accident to be reported immediately by phone to Raffaele Porzio and the FNTE team and following the prescribed process
- Additional tasks may be added or removed based on departmental needs
Qualifications

- Excellent command in spoken and written English with bilingualism (French and English) preferred.
- Autonomy and initiative.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience.
- Proficiency using Microsoft office applications, knowledge of Power BI (asset).
- Strong communication skills for negotiation and reconciliation.
