Job Description

Are you ready to take your financial expertise into a role where you can work closely with the business, banks and our stores?

At METRO Romania, Treasury plays a key role in keeping our business financially healthy and our operations running smoothly. As a Treasury Economist, you will contribute to this by managing cash and liquidity processes, ensuring accurate store reconciliations and continuously improving the way we work.

What will you do?

  • Manage day-to-day banking operations, petty cash and insurance activities;
  • Overview of the daily process of sales postings and reconciliation;
  • Maintain strong and professional relationships with our banking partners;
  • Perform the daily reconciliation of store sales with the corresponding payment methods, ensuring accuracy and timely identification of discrepancies;
  • Prepare and analyze cash flow activities on a biweekly and monthly basis, investigate deviations and contribute to improving forecasting accuracy;
  • Support liquidity planning and take responsibility for Net Working Capital (NWC) calculations;
  • Monitor and contribute to the optimization of treasury-related processes across our two Shared Service Centers;
  • Support internal financial controls for Treasury processes and provide the necessary information during internal and external audits;
  • Review and improve internal procedures and work instructions related to store operations processes.

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in Accounting, Treasury or Cash Management.
  • Good understanding of cash management and financial processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent English.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Good knowledge of SAP.
  • A completed Bachelor's degree.
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively with different teams and stakeholders.
