As a Robotics Hardware Engineer at Locus Robotics, you will play a crucial role in assisting the development and enhancement of our autonomous mobile robot systems. This entry-level position is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with at least two years of relevant experience who are looking to kick-start their career in the exciting field of robotics. APG is a forward-thinking group that evaluates product opportunities with 2–4-year roadmaps using emerging technologies. The Robotics Hardware Engineer will design, build, and implement hardware components for robotic systems, assembly prototypes and test fixtures. This role offers a unique hands-on component, providing you with the opportunity to roll up your sleeves and directly engage in the assembly and debugging of robotic systems. You'll gain practical experience, working side-by-side with experienced engineers, to bring cutting-edge robotic technologies to life. Thi is a hybrid role will require engineers to be onsite in our Nashua NH office.
Job Description
- Design Robotic electrical systems in collaboration with the hardware design team per application requirements and to industry standards.
- Build and integrate electrical and mechanical assemblies – including custom cable harnesses, motors, sensors, and mechanical components.
- Document designs using schematic wiring and block diagrams for wire routes and pinouts.
- Provide additional assistance as needed to other team members, such as root cause analysis, and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Schematic capture for all control systems and create detailed schematics for assembly.
- Contribute to the implementation for electrical schematics, documentation, and electrical BOMs.
Qualifications
- BS in Electrical, Mechatronics, Robotics, or other relevant degree
- Understanding of electrical circuits, components, and systems including sensors, actuators, power distribution and control systems.
- Ability to design basic PCBs
- Experience with Electrical Software such as Solidworks Electrical or AutoCAD
- Knowledge of embedded systems and microcontroller programming.
- Experience with common assembly tools.
- Skilled in soldering – wire, board, termination, etc.
- Knowledge of electronic system troubleshooting techniques and using electronic tools like oscilloscopes, multimeters, power meters, etc.
- Lifting/pushing/pulling and carrying products weighing up to 45 pounds.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.
- Solid English technical writing and communication skills.
