Job Description
The Linux Foundation’s blockchain, healthcare, and identity projects are looking for a driven Community Architect who can foster a successful collaborative software development ecosystem. They will be immersed in the technical contributor communities, streamlining the process of getting new developers up to speed, collaborating and contributing. They will also assist with technical conversations across projects, driving a holistic overarching architecture that makes sense to developers and the broader user community, and drive successful adoption of open source development practices. Travel will vary by location, but a recurring presence in NYC, SF, Asia and Europe should be expected. The Community Architect will report to the Senior Director, Community Architecture.
Qualifications
Responsibilities include:
Monitor technical conversations and interactions across projects, guiding them in positive directions as necessary
Analyze data about community activities to identify parts of the communities that might need additional support
Help individuals, including member companies and staff, understand the technical landscape
Develop educational content for developers and non-developers
Participate in and contribute to technical working groups – phone calls, email, sometimes F2F
Speak at conferences and provide mentorship or judging at Hackathons and travel to in-person events as required
Assist in the production of community events and be a presence at third-party events
Research new collaboration and communication tools, and support as necessary
Run and support test networks, as necessary
Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience with open source communities
Deep familiarity with Open Source software development practices and business models
Substantial history of technical contributions to existing Open Source projects
Demonstrated ability to quickly adopt new programming languages and tools
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Familiarity with the technical and business landscape around blockchain technology, with a focus on Hyperledger
