Team Description 

At LinkedIn, our Online Infrastructure organization powers systems and technologies that enable rich, online access to LinkedIn's economic graph data and insights for all of LinkedIn's online features and capabilities. We do this by building cutting edge and innovative planet-scale HA systems, and by relentlessly pursuing operational excellence and customer obsession to support LinkedIn's product teams. 

The Graph and Online Analytics Infrastructure group in the Online Infra organization is at the cutting edge of building online distributed databases and services that power real-time insights and graph traversals for our members directly and as critical real-time computations for our member-facing features like recommender systems, targeting and personalization use cases.

As part of the Graph and Online Analytics Infrastructure group, you will have the opportunity to devise and own our multi-year, multi-systems Online Analytics strategy to support LinkedIn's growth at this critical juncture of our AI transformation for our members, customers and for ourselves.

You will be driving LinkedIn’s Online Analytics strategy and its implementation with the rigor and pragmatism demonstrated by your world-class expertise in the domain and prior successes in generating critical business outcomes. You will play a pivotal role in building systems and services in the domain, developing talent, augmenting culture of rigor and customer obsession and partner across Product Platforms, Online Infra and across the company to realize the benefits of online and real-time analytics at scale. As the primary domain expert, you are expected to provide technical leadership, drive architectural decisions and implementation across the group.  You will research, develop, build and ship cutting edge technologies in partnership with the group to achieve Linkedin' business goals. You will inculcate and reinforce rigor, operational excellence and customer obsession in our group and our organization.

Responsibilities

  • Architect Real-Time Analytics Platforms: Design and implement distributed query engines and APIs for sub-second latency across heterogeneous systems.
  • Own and Evolve Core Systems: Drive the roadmap, scalability, and operational excellence of our existing web-scale analytics systems; ensure these systems meet future analytics demands.
  • Drive Service and Operational Excellence: Define and drive service and operational excellence for online analytics services  at consumer-internet scale.
  • Culture Builder: Establish and nurture a culture of customer obsession and business impact, combined with high rigor, technical craft, and innovation.
  • Cross-System Optimization: Lead architectural decisions for query planning, caching, and optimizations across multiple engines.
  • Technical Leadership: Mentor senior engineers, set technical standards, and foster a culture of excellence.
  • Industry Engagement: Represent the organization in real-time analytics forums

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 10+ years in distributed systems and real-time analytics platforms.
  • 5+ years in technical leadership roles for OLAP or real-time query engines.
  • Experience in developing and scaling large scale databases or analytics systems
  • Experience with building columnar storage, vectorized execution, and cost-based optimizers.
  • Experience with coding in Java, C++, or Rust; knowledge of query execution, indexing, and concurrency.
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience with distributed online analytics systems and databases.
  • Expertise in query federation, semantic modeling, and BI integration.
  • Expertise with columnar storage, vectorized execution, and rule-based as well as cost-based optimizers.
  • Experience building interactive services or analytics APIs for large-scale systems.
  • Experience with communication and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Background in industry thought leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to align technical decisions with business outcomes and drive customer-centric innovation.

The pay range for this role is $218,000 to $357,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
