The Technical Product & Application Expert serves as the primary technical liaison between Gnosis by Lesaffre and its customers and manufacturing partners across the APAC and Greater China regions. This role bridges scientific expertise with practical application knowledge to enhance customer experience, solve complex formulation challenges, and ensure successful product development and manufacturing. This position plays a critical role in positioning Gnosis as the partner of choice through technical excellence and collaborative problem-solving throughout APAC and Greater China regions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The position requires 30% - 50% of the time travelling in APAC and China.

Technical Customer Support & Consultation

• Provide expert technical guidance to commercial teams during customer interactions, enhancing presentations of new products formulation options
• Deliver customized technical services to strategic customers, including formulation support, stability testing, and application development
• Support quality teams in resolving technical aspects of customer complaints through root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Facilitate knowledge transfer of analytical methods to external laboratories and customer sites across the APAC and Greater China regions

Manufacturing Partner Coordination

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact between Gnosis and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs/CDMOs)
• Translate complex technical specifications and formulation requirements into clear manufacturing guidelines
• Provide on-site technical training and troubleshooting support to manufacturing partners
• Coordinate with global R&D teams to resolve complex formulation, stability, and process challenges
• Manage product development projects from concept to commercial scale, ensuring alignment between scientific requirements and manufacturing capabilities

Technical Network Development

• Identify, evaluate, and qualify potential development and manufacturing partners across APAC and Greater China regions
• Build and maintain a comprehensive database of technical capabilities and specializations of regional CMOs/CDMOs
• Match specific product and technology requirements with the most appropriate manufacturing partners
• Organize and centralize technical documentation to support R&D functions

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Bridge communication and collaboration between commercial, R&D, and quality teams to ensure seamless product development
• Escalate unresolved technical challenges to global R&D teams when advanced solutions are required
• Contribute technical insights to regional marketing initiatives and new product launches
• Support technology transfer from global innovation centers to regional manufacturing partners

Education

• Advanced degree (MS or PhD preferred) in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Technology, Biotechnology, or related scientific field

Experience

• 10+ years of technical experience in the nutraceutical, dietary supplement, or pharmaceutical industry
• Proven track record in formulation development for various delivery formats (tablets, capsules, gummies, liquids)
• Extensive experience managing technical relationships with contract manufactures and analytical laboratories
• Demonstrated success in scaling formulations from lab to commercial production

Skills & Competencies

• Deep technical knowledge of ingredient functionality, formulation science, and manufacturing processes
• Strong project management capabilities with ability to manage multiple technical initiatives simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills with ability to translate complex technical concepts to various audiences
• Problem-solving mindset with practical approach to formulation and process challenges
• Collaborative work style with ability to influence without direct authority
• Language Proficiency: High-level fluency in English and Mandarin (speaking)

Technical Knowledge

• Expert understanding of nutraceutical and dietary supplement formulation principles
• Familiarity with GMP manufacturing requirements, quality systems, and analytical testing types and procedures for dietary supplement ingredients and probiotics.
• Knowledge of analytical testing methods relevant to nutraceutical ingredients
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for dietary supplements in the APAC region and, preferably, China.

General Safety & Health Responsibilities:

• Comply with local governmental HSE regulations, with Lesaffre fundamental principles and apply the safety Policy,
• Participate in entity safety activities and always show best examples (Rules application, PPE wearing, perform safety visits, accident analysis, safety committees…),
• Participate actively in the risk assessment of own’s job area
• Follow the safety action plan of own perimeter,
• Make safety rules in your perimeter, communicate it, make sure your team understands and applied them,
• Start all meetings (from 8 persons minimum) by a safety contact,
• Encourage safe acts and discourage each time you see unsafe acts,
• Report unsafe conditions / acts and near misses to the managers,
• Report within 12 hours all recordable accidents to the next level of management,
• Report each month all recordable accidents and first aids happened in your perimeter,
• Participate in the target-setting process for the safety KPIs,
• Be a part of recognition & sanction program.

The person in charge of the entity projects is responsible for:

• Respect company rule regarding travel safety,
• Apply our safety rules over and above those of our customers if there are no similar rules (safety shoes, goggles, etc.),
• Apply and respect safe driving rules,
• Make sure all gift or external communication supports are online with “safety spirit” (good for health, safe, environmentally friendly).
