About The Role

The Retail Business Consultant (RBC) is the primary point of contact and day-to-day business partner for assigned franchisees within their region. The role is responsible for driving in-store execution, performance uplift and franchisee capability through coaching, business planning, accountability and practical support.

The RBC owns day-to-day performance coaching and execution discipline for the stores assigned to them. The role focuses on settlement growth, pipeline health, conversion, Find-Buy-Own penetration, customer experience, broker productivity and franchise business planning. The RBC also helps franchisees connect with relevant peers, central teams and business resources to accelerate performance and sustainable growth.

At its best, this role creates value by bringing clarity, cadence and commercial focus to each franchisee relationship while protecting the long-term value of the retail network.

Job Description

  • Coach Franchisees for performance: Build trusted relationships with Franchisees, providing practical coaching, commercial advice and constructive challenge to improve business performance.
  • Turn data into action: Use insights across settlements, pipeline, conversion, broker productivity and customer performance to identify opportunities and focus Franchisees on the actions that will make the biggest difference.
  • Drive regional growth: Support Franchisees to strengthen lead management, business development, local area marketing and broker capability to deliver sustainable growth.
  • Bring business plans to life: Help Franchisees develop and execute clear Business and Action Plans, maintaining strong accountability and follow-through against agreed priorities.
  • Support the franchise journey: Tailor your coaching to each business and provide support through key milestones including onboarding, growth, renewals, succession and change.
  • Champion customer and business initiatives: Help Franchisees adopt new products, tools, sales disciplines and operating practices that improve customer and commercial outcomes.
  • Connect the network: Create opportunities for Franchisees to share best practice and learn from peers, while partnering with State leadership and central teams to remove barriers and unlock opportunities.
  • Uphold strong standards: Support Franchisees to meet operational, customer, commercial and governance expectations, proactively identifying and escalating risks where needed.

Qualifications

  • What You'll Bring
    • Experience in business coaching, field sales leadership, franchise support, retail leadership or multi-site performance management.
    • Demonstrated ability to coach, influence and constructively challenge business owners or sales leaders to improve performance.
    • Strong commercial acumen, with confidence using performance data and business insights to identify opportunities and drive action.
    • Experience across business planning, sales growth, local area marketing, customer performance or business improvement.
    • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust while maintaining accountability.
    • Excellent planning and prioritisation skills, with a track record of strong execution and follow-through.
    • Confidence using reporting tools, dashboards and sales systems to support performance conversations.
    • Ability to navigate change and ambiguity while keeping stakeholders focused on practical outcomes.
  • Nice to Have
    • Experience within mortgage broking, financial services, franchising or a similar distributed retail network.
    • Strong understanding of franchise operations and the different stages of the franchise business lifecycle.
    • Experience coaching broker productivity, pipeline management, conversion or sales performance.
    • Experience supporting local area marketing and business development initiatives.
    • Experience leading the adoption of new products, systems or ways of working across a network.
