Company Description

At Lely, we believe in achieving a sustainable, profitable and agreeable future for dairy farmers by combining robotisation, engineering and farming expertise.

It all started in 1948 with a dream cherished by two brothers in Maassluis, and ever since, we have worked to become innovative market leaders in automated systems for dairy farmers across the globe. With a team of 2,800 professional specialists, we work constantly to bring about revolutionary solutions for the agro industry. We are based at our Maassluis Campus, a building which features the highest sustainability performance possible, not just in the Netherlands, but on a global scale. Our overall objective: making dairy farming interesting, also for the coming generations.

Job Description

Do you want to influence the next generation of milking robots that help farmers around the world every day? Within Technical Service Support, you will have the opportunity to contribute to solutions that are designed not only for today, but to remain reliable, maintainable, and serviceable for years to come. As part of the Long Term Impact team, you play an important role in the continued development of our Milking portfolio, with a strong focus on the Lely Astronaut.

In this role, you will tackle complex technical challenges with a long term perspective. You investigate how products perform throughout their entire lifecycle and use insights from data, service operations, and field experience to identify opportunities for future improvements.

While you are not directly involved in designing or building the milking robot itself, you have a significant influence on how it is developed, maintained, and supported worldwide. When recurring technical issues, maintenance challenges, or field trends reveal opportunities for improvement, you identify the root causes and translate your findings into clear recommendations for product development teams.

Working closely with engineers, product developers, and service teams, you help ensure that new innovations are not only technologically advanced, but also reliable, maintainable, and scalable throughout their lifecycle. The impact of your work can ultimately be seen in thousands of milking robots used by farmers around the globe every day.

Your main responsibilities:

  • You work on strategic, long-term projects within the Milking portfolio, with a strong focus on the continued development of the Lely Astronaut.
  • You represent the service and lifecycle perspective within multidisciplinary product and project teams.
  • You ensure that maintainability, product uptime, and service standards are embedded in product design and development decisions from the very beginning.
  • You define and substantiate service requirements for new products, innovations, and product improvements.
  • You analyze data, service insights, and field feedback, and translate these findings into structural product improvements.
  • You contribute to the further development of global maintenance and service standards.

Qualifications

You enjoy solving complex technical challenges and naturally look beyond today's solution. You are able to balance different perspectives and translate real-world insights into improvements that create lasting value for products, customers, and service organizations.

Additionally, you bring the following:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field, such as Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or Software Engineering.
  • Several years of experience in a technical or engineering-oriented environment.
  • Affinity with complex technical systems and the complete product lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • A good command of the English language, given the international nature of the role.
  • Willingness to travel internationally on an occasional basis.
