Job Description

We have an exciting and challenging opportunity available for an experienced Commvault SME and engineer to be part of a close-knit, multidisciplinary team. Your role will leverage your expert knowledge in the support and maintenance of a large enterprise environment spanning multiple interstate and  international datacentres.  Reporting to the storage and data protection manager, the main responsibilities will include administering the backup systems, tuning system performance, installing site-wide software and supporting storage hardware and software.

Working in a fast-paced environment in a collaborative team across BAU and projects, you will be with broad skillsets, you will be enabling and empowering operational administration, providing technical guidance and collaborate with other technical SMEs across the organisation on operations, service improvement initiatives/projects to enhance efficiency, performance and reliability for our Customer, in an exciting opportunity to influence Defence’s ICT capability into the future.

Job Description

You will be able to perform the following functions as individual assignments or as part of a team:·   

  • Review the Storage &  Data Protection designs and make recommendations for upgrades, designs and implementations;
  • Implement and test Commvault upgrades;
  • Design, implement and administer data migration activities;
  • Configuring Storage Units, Volume Pools, Disk Staging, and storage life cycle policies and creating Policies and Schedules, Monitoring backup/restoring jobs, /Experience troubleshooting CommVault problems
  • Maintain data protection design and implementation documentation;
  • Provide input into policies, procedures, and SOPs relating to maintenance and management of the operational backup infrastructure and solution
  • Implement organisational objectives for backup and restore improvement and compliance with industry standards;
  • Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Obtain and analyse relevant subject matter documentation.
  • Contribute to IT Support process and policy development.
  • Ensure adherence to processes, procedures and security requirements. 

Qualifications

About You and What You'll Bring

Relevant certifications or Professional membership relating to CommVault Data protection software.

Experience

Coupled with your education and practical experience, you will demonstrate a pro-active approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues and develop relationships to achieve the company’s objectives.  You will also have:

  • 5+ years experience with Simpana and/or CommVault in large scale deployment in complex multi-domain environments.
  • Experience in setting up CommVault in Linux/Unix environments
  • Experience in performing backup, recovery, troubleshooting, proactive maintenance, and optimizing performance of CommVault
  • Experience on Auxiliary copy and data ageing backup job operations
  • Substantial professional experience working in a role within an engineering or project environment (preferably in a similar industry)
  • Experience on VMWare and Agent level backup troubleshooting skills will be desirable
  • Experience working in a large enterprise environment

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold a current NV-2 security clearance.
