Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Retail Finance Manager to help shape a newly created role across our Protection and Retirements businesses.
This is a broad, commercially focused opportunity for a qualified accountant or actuary who can connect financial performance with practical business decisions. You will work across actuarial, accounting, finance partnering and commercial teams, helping colleagues consider profitability, growth, capital, cash and liquidity as one joined-up picture.
You will not be joining simply to produce a recurring suite of reports. Instead, you will focus on priority opportunities and pressure points, bringing insight, constructive challenge and momentum where these are most valuable. Over time, you may also establish and own new cross-business processes.
What you'll be doing:
- Driving a consistent focus on profitability across Protection and Retirements
- Connecting actuarial, accounting and commercial perspectives
- Evaluating trade-offs across growth, profitability, capital, cash and liquidity
- Translating IFRS 17, Solvency II and financial analysis into clear business narratives
- Supporting transformation, product, pricing and market-development priorities
- Building consolidated views that help senior leaders make informed decisions
- Identifying practical opportunities to improve finance processes through automation and AI
- Influencing stakeholders and representing Retail Finance in leadership discussions
Who we're looking for:
- A qualified accountant or qualified actuary
- Strong financial services experience, ideally within life insurance or an insurance-focused consultancy
- A strong understanding of IFRS 17 and life insurance financial performance
- Commercial judgement across profitability, expenses, growth, capital, cash or liquidity
- Experience supporting change, transformation or complex cross-functional activity
- The ability to explain technical financial issues clearly to senior and non-specialist audiences
- Credibility, curiosity and the confidence to influence without relying on formal authority
- An inclusive, collaborative approach to bringing teams with different perspectives together
Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:
- The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance -related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
- Generous pension contribution
- Life assurance
- Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only)
- At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years’ service. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
- Competitive family leave
- Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice (permanent employees only)
- There are many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
- We’re creating net‑zero carbon workplaces by 2030 by investing in our sustainable, modern offices across the UK, all designed to bring people together and elevate the in‑person experience
