Job Description
We are seeking a Full‑Stack Engineer to join the PRoboT product team as one of its first engineering hires. This role will work hands‑on across the full technology stack, partnering closely with the Product Engineering Lead to build, scale, and mature the platform. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering PRoboT’s v2 foundations, enabling enterprise integrations, and developing future capabilities across the PRT lifecycle.
PRoboT is a strategic product within Institutional Retirement, designed to transform how Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) business is priced through AI‑driven document understanding, automation, and deep integration with core pricing and modelling platforms. Initially developed with a third‑party partner, PRoboT is now evolving into an internally owned, enterprise‑grade product supported by a dedicated product engineering team.
What you'll be doing:
- Designing, building, and maintaining high‑quality front‑end and back‑end components of PRoboT across the full product lifecycle, from discovery and design through to production support
- Developing and evolving secure, scalable APIs and integrations between PRoboT and core enterprise systems, including DMS, the Modelling Platform, Falcon, Conductor, and downstream services using Azure‑based patterns
- Delivering AI‑enabled product capabilities by contributing to document ingestion, transformation, evaluation pipelines, and the continuous improvement of accuracy and reliability alongside actuaries and domain experts
- Applying strong engineering discipline through automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, code quality standards, observability, and operational resilience to support PRoboT as a production‑critical service
- Collaborating closely with the Product Engineering Lead to establish engineering standards, development practices, and technical direction as the product and team scale
- Partnering with cross‑functional stakeholders across pricing, actuarial, modelling, data, and architecture teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions
- Ensuring responsible and compliant product outcomes by designing transparent workflows, outputs, and user journeys that support clear, accurate decision‑making
- Supporting Consumer Duty accountability through strong governance, controls over automated outputs, and careful consideration of user and business impact
Who we're looking for:
- A hands‑on full‑stack software engineer with strong experience building and supporting modern, product‑led applications in agile or iterative delivery teams
- Proven experience designing, building, and operating production systems on cloud platforms, with Azure experience strongly preferred
- Solid expertise in front‑end development using modern frameworks such as React (or equivalent) and back‑end development using languages and frameworks such as .NET, Python, or Node.js
- Strong experience with APIs, distributed systems, and enterprise integrations, including secure authentication and authorisation patterns in enterprise environments
- A practitioner of high‑quality engineering and DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and production support for business‑critical services
- Experience owning features or services end‑to‑end, from initial design and development through to live operation and ongoing improvement
- Comfortable collaborating with non‑technical domain experts (such as actuaries, analysts, or business stakeholders) to translate complex requirements into robust technical solutions
- An interest in, or experience with, AI‑enabled or data‑driven products, regulated environments, or risk‑sensitive domains, with Azure certifications or a relevant degree considered a plus
Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:
- The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance -related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
- Generous pension contribution
- Life assurance
- Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only)
- At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years’ service. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
- Competitive family leave
- Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice (permanent employees only)
- There are many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
- We’re creating net‑zero carbon workplaces by 2030 by investing in our sustainable, modern offices across the UK, all designed to bring people together and elevate the in‑person experience
