Job Description

Legal and General’s Affordable Homes Data team are looking to hire a Data Protection Consultant following growth and increase in scope, to ensure data quality is upheld and compliant with internal and external policies.


This role would see you responsible for data quality, storage, governance and ensuring that we are compliant with internal policies as well as GDPR so the business are well prepared for instances such as subject access requests.

    What you'll be doing:

    • Analysing data processes and flows to identify potential data protection risks and areas for improvement while monitoring and reporting on data protection compliance and ensure adherence to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant UK data protection laws.
    • Supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of data protection policies, procedures, and controls, reviewing data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and advising on data protection and privacy risks
    • Collaborating with various departments to ensure data protection requirements are integrated into new and existing systems and processes
    • Preparing and presenting reports on data protection activities and metrics to management and providing data protection training and awareness sessions to staff and stakeholders
    • Conducting regular data quality assessments to identify and rectify discrepancies or errors.
    • Collaborating with Tech and other teams to maintain data accuracy and consistency across platforms
    • Identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation in data handling and reporting and propose and implement enhancements to streamline data-related workflows
    • Maintaining detailed documentation of data processes, migration procedures, and system configurations

    Qualifications

    Who we're looking for:

    • Proficiency in Excel functions is essential while experience or knowledge of visualisation tools such as tableau is beneficial
    • Experience with data projects and a solid understanding of the requirements of data protection and risk management
    • Strong knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK data protection laws
    • Experience supporting and reviewing data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and managing data risks and incidents
    • Knowledge of best practices in data governance and compliance
    • Professional certifications in data protection (e.g., BCS or IAPP) are highly desirable
