Job Description

We are currently seeking a Tax Manager to join our team. In this role, you will keep up to date with the latest in tax regulations and other guidance. The position also requires researching tax issues to develop effective tax planning strategies. Applicants should have excellent collaboration and technical tax skills, and the confidence to present complex tax topics to colleagues and stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds. The ideal candidate also possesses a proven record in tax planning for large complex partnership/multitiered LLC clients. 

A day on the job looks like this: 

  • Model federal and multistate quarterly tax distributions and their effects to partner capital, and model revaluations and other potential triggering events 
  • Assist the Tax department with other indirect tax compliance support, including, but not limited to, sales, property, excise tax issues and business licenses 
  • Complete ad-hoc projects as assigned by Tax Director 
  • Communicate complex tax topics to senior leadership and other colleagues in easy-to-understand language 
  • Document significant partnership tax issues, including assistance with transaction structuring and documentation 
  • Manage other Partnership/Subchapter-K tax issues, collect/review PBCs from various internal business partners and conduct tax research for a complex, multistate, multitiered LLC entity structured business 
  • Undertake all types of tax work from direct and indirect tax  
  • Identify and react to risks and opportunities to improve processes and procedures 

Qualifications

Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field, supported by significant tax, business or financial planning experience is required 
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization 
  • CPA certification is preferred 
  • Membership in the bar and/or a master’s degree in taxation is preferred 
  • Manager-level partnership tax, Subchapter-K experience a plus
  • Experience maintaining 704/tax capital accounts for a large number of LLC members a plus
  • Experience performing complex capital account modeling using the waterfall/704(b) economic effect approach a plus
  • Experience evaluating the tax aspects of partnership agreements and managing the client’s Internal Revenue Code (IRC) 704/tax capital accounts a plus
  • Large-ERP implementation experience a plus 
  • Vertex experience a plus 
  • An understanding of partnership tax issues, including, but not limited to, Sections 704, 743, waterfall calculations, state composite tax returns, nonresident withholding and tracking partnership capital accounts for a large number of partners 
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail 
  • A commitment to continuing your learning 
  • Adaptable, resourceful and motivated
