Job Description

We are seeking a Part-Time Preschool Substitute Teacher for our Kids & Company Child Development Center, which is dedicated to giving early learners the tools they need to grow. Created for our associates’ children more than 30 years ago, Kids & Company is a full-day program with a Nature Explore® classroom and a wonderful team. In this role, you will implement and follow a daily classroom schedule and instruction plan based on our own outstanding curriculum. The position requires someone who can create and maintain a positive learning environment. Applicants should be experienced, highly motivated teachers who love guiding children’s discovery of the world around them. This position offers a guaranteed minimum of 20 hours per week to ensure consistent work hours for our team members.

This position is located on-site at our Carson, CA, headquarters. 

A day in the office looks like this: 

  • Implementing center curriculum while supporting child care safety and quality guidelines  
  • Developing strategies to encourage children’s positive behavior  
  • Supporting fellow teachers with various center tasks and duties  
  • Maintaining center facilities to support program quality  

Qualifications

Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Associate’s degree in Child Development/Early Childhood required, with at least 12 ECE units completed   
  • Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training (Certificate of Completion)  
  • Minimum 1 year of classroom experience  
  • Current Pediatric First Aid & CPR certification required  
  • Knowledge in all aspects of child development, creative classroom environments and best practices  
  • Nurturing, compassionate and enthusiastic personality  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills  
  • Flexibility to provide care for infants/pre-k age levels as needed
