Job Description
Within the Infrastructure and CloudOps team, the System Administrator (Unix/Linux) is responsible for the operation, stability, and evolution of critical Linux and Solaris environments in high-availability and high-performance contexts.
Primary Role:
Ensure advanced administration, optimization, and reliability of Linux and Solaris systems while guaranteeing security, performance, and compliance with organizational standards.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain production Linux and Solaris environments
- Ensure availability and performance of critical systems
- Manage updates, patches, and major upgrades
- Diagnose and resolve complex incidents (Level 3 support)
- Participate in modernization and migration projects
- Collaborate with Network, Security, and Storage teams
- Write and maintain technical documentation and procedures
Technical Environment:
- Linux (RedHat, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu)
- Solaris
- Virtualization
- Scripting (Bash, Shell)
- Monitoring and backup tools
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Advanced expertise in Linux administration
- Strong knowledge of Solaris
- Solid understanding of Unix architectures
- Ability to manage critical environments
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Desired Profile
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Significant experience in Linux system administration
- Proven experience with Solaris systems
- Linux/Unix certifications are an asset
Working Conditions
- Flexible hybrid position: position can be primarily remote (must be within Canada) although is expected to be able to come in to the Montreal office or to the company's Datacenters when required for group or departamental meetings or other required in-person tasks
- Occasional travel depending on operational needs
This position must be bilingual as the candidate will be responsible for working with documentation in both French and English and communicating, orally and in writing, with both French-speaking and English-speaking partners/clients/suppliers/colleagues.
