Job Description
LGC Hoddesdon supports the LGC Diagnostic and Genomics business by providing reagent manufacturing. The reagents can be used either in-house for the benefit of customers submitting samples for Lab Genotyping Services, or on customer sites conducting Single Nucleotide Polymorphism analysis. This role has to observe site Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and policies, whilst always working within the established Quality Management System at Hoddesdon.
The job entails the following day-to-day tasks, all in-line with the established and approved productions methods:
- Production and Quality Control of a large variety of buffers including purification and storage buffers, and DNA extraction reagents for internal and external customers.
- DNA polymerase (Taq) production and Quality Control.
- DNA polymerase (Taq) formulated ready-for-use.
- Aliquoting/labelling of ready-to-use solutions.
- Accurate maintenance of production records
- Process improvement aligned to site goals and targets
- Stock checking
- Using appropriate equipment, including manual handling equipment.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related Life Sciences discipline
Knowledge of the polymerase chain reaction and DNA cloning and sequencing
Competence in Microsoft Office Suite software including MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook. Experience of working through ERP software, eg IFS or SAP
Prior experience working within a Quality Management System would be an advantage
Strong prioritisation and organisational skills
