Job Description

Build, shape and lead a market-leading mining advisory capability

KordaMentha is growing, and we are seeking an experienced Executive Director – Turnaround (Mining Sector) to play a pivotal role in shaping and expanding our mining advisory offering across Western Australia and nationally.

This is a unique opportunity to combine deep mining industry expertise with advisory and restructuring capability, leveraging KordaMentha’s established market reputation to build a differentiated, high-impact business in the mining sector.

You will act as a trusted adviser to boards, lenders and executive teams navigating complex, high-stakes situations across mining assets and businesses.

With the strength of KordaMentha’s leading restructuring practice behind you, this role offers the platform, credibility and support to:

  • Build and grow a mining advisory business aligned to market demand
  • Lead complex turnaround, cost-out and special situations engagements
  • Strengthen our presence across WA’s mining sector and beyond
  • Shape client solutions at the intersection of operational, financial and strategic challenge

    What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead and deliver high-profile mining engagements, including turnaround, operational improvement and restructuring
  • Provide strategic, commercially grounded advice to senior stakeholders navigating underperformance or change
  • Translate deep mining sector insight into practical, implementable solutions
  • Build trusted relationships with CEOs, CFOs, boards, lenders and investors
  • Originate and grow new business opportunities, leveraging your network and KordaMentha’s market position
  • Mentor and develop senior team members, contributing to a high-performing advisory practice

Qualifications

  • Significant mining industry experience, ideally with exposure to operational and commercial drivers
  • Experience in consulting, advisory or performance improvement
  • Strong commercial judgement and strategic problem-solving capability in complex environments
  • Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and boards
  • A track record of building relationships, originating work and growing capability
  • Executive presence, resilience and a pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset
  • Proven people leadership capability, including mentoring senior talent, building high-performing teams and developing future leaders
