Associate - Real Estate Advisory
- Full-time
- Office Location: Melbourne
- Division: Advisory
- Department: Real Estate
Company Description
For more than 20 years, KordaMentha has supported businesses through some of their most complex matters and opportunities. Founder owned and led; we are an advisory firm that helps corporations, financiers, lawyers, private investors and government clients to grow, protect and recover value.
That’s what we do, but it’s how we do this that makes us who we are.
Proudly independent, strategically local, and with a bias for action to get things done, we focus on doing what is right by our clients, our people, and the wider community. Our track record shows that we help navigate the best path forward in challenging times, and do so across cities, regions and territories.
In the most stressful or demanding environments, we continue to drive change where it really counts.
Job Description
KordaMentha’s Real Estate Advisory team provides independent, outcomes-focused advice across the full real estate lifecycle, helping clients navigate some of their most significant and complex property decisions. Our work spans high-value assets, sensitive stakeholder environments, projects under public scrutiny and matters with material financial implications.
We advise private, institutional and government clients across all asset classes, delivering support across transaction and deal advisory, asset and development strategy, and implementation and delivery. What sets us apart is our focus on outcomes — not just reports — working alongside clients to execute strategies and manage delivery risk.
We are looking for an Associate to join our nationally integrated Real Estate Advisory platform. In this role, you will contribute to high-impact engagements, providing commercial advice to both private and public sector clients, with a particular focus on lender and government-related work.
You will gain exposure across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage feasibility analysis and project review through to delivery, while working closely with senior executives, government stakeholders and lenders on major, high-value projects. The role also offers the opportunity to collaborate across multiple service lines, including Restructuring, Public Sector Advisory and Major Projects Advisory.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a collaborative environment and is looking to build their career across a broad range of asset classes, client groups and engagement types.
In this role, you will:
- Support the delivery of real estate advisory engagements, contributing to scoping, analysis and client outputs aligned to commercial, policy and governance objectives.
- Take ownership of defined workstreams, delivering analysis and insights with guidance from senior team members.
- Undertake market research and due diligence across assets and portfolios, synthesising findings into clear, actionable insights.
- Assist with financial modelling and feasibility analysis, building your understanding of key value drivers, project risks and commercial considerations.
- Support asset repositioning and lender-led engagements, including options analysis and exposure to capital structures and risk allocation.
- Help prepare business cases, investment papers and high-quality client deliverables for senior stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders, while contributing to team culture, client delivery and proposal support.
Qualifications
We’re interested in professionals who bring a strong analytical skill set, commercial curiosity and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic advisory environment. We’re likely to be speaking with candidates who have:
- 3–4 years’ relevant experience in consulting, advisory, professional services, government infrastructure teams, treasury, investment banking or a similar environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in property, commerce, finance, economics or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical capability and financial modelling skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Well-developed PowerPoint skills, with the ability to produce clear, structured and compelling presentations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
