The role is accountable for guiding the growth and expansion of a healthcare portfolio in Japan by driving alignment, trust, and execution across Japan and global stakeholders. This position combines senior client advisory responsibility with strategic orchestration across disciplines, ensuring work is delivered with excellence, compliance, and commercial impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead senior client relationships in Japan, serving as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for local and global stakeholders.
  • Own the strategic narrative for Japan within global accounts, translating Japan-specific market insights into actionable recommendations that influence global brand strategy.
  • Guide end-to-end customer journeys, including localization of global assets, messaging, and campaigns in partnership with strategy, creative, medical, and regulatory teams.
  • Orchestrate Japan–global collaboration across meetings, materials, decision-making, and follow-through to ensure high-quality, compliant, on-time delivery.
  • Support account growth by identifying opportunities for expanded scope, new initiatives, and deeper client partnership using data, insights, and analytics.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Native Japanese proficiency and English fluency at C1+ level, with demonstrated ability to lead senior client discussions and deliver strategic narratives in both languages.
  • 10–15 years of experience in client services, account leadership, healthcare strategy, marketing, or consulting, with responsibility for complex, multi-brand or portfolio-level engagements.
  • Deep understanding of the Japanese healthcare system, including therapeutic areas, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks such as the PMD Act, JPMA Code, and MLR review processes.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional, multicultural teams across strategy, creative, medical, regulatory, and analytics disciplines to deliver compliant, high-impact work.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex data and insights, including real-world evidence, claims data, IQVIA, or digital analytics, into clear, commercially grounded recommendations.

Desired:

  • Comfort and enthusiasm for using AI as a regular part of how work gets done.
  • Experience partnering with both local Japan and global brand teams within a matrixed organizational structure.
  • Knowledge of global brand planning, lifecycle strategy, and localization of global frameworks for regional markets.
  • Experience working closely with MLR partners to ensure compliant asset development and approval.
  • Ability to create scalable frameworks, playbooks, and best-practice models to improve client engagement and ways of working in the Japan market.
