Responsible for analyzing homecare medical records to ensure supporting billing documentation is in place, certification periods are met and clinical documentation within industry guidelines and Medicare requirements; reviews documentation and applies appropriate code for billing; obtains insurance verification and prior authorizations; monitors and works daily billing errors and A/R; participates in the creation and implementation of standard work for daily, weekly and monthly document verification and chart audits. Also functions as a backup for front office team, assisting with nurse scheduling, answering phones, referral intake and other duties as assigned.

What is required...

• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• High school diploma or GED
• One year of patient account billing
• Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Terminology
• Knowledge of insurance verification and authorization fundamentals

What is preferred...

• AA or Bachelor’s Degree
• Previous medical billing experience with commercial insurance and Medicare/Medicaid
• Previous experience in a medical records environment
• Previous experience in home health and hospice coding and billing
• Certified Coder
• Bilingual
• Previous medical office experience with exposure to medical records, scheduling, high volume phone systems and medical transcription

Wage:  Wage range starts at $18.48/hour  Actual starting wage will be dependent on years of applicable experience.  This position may also be eligible to receive an additional 15% premium, in lieu of benefits.

FTE:  Per Diem

Schedule:  Primarily Monday - Friday

Benefits:  This position is not benefits eligible
