Job Description

Radionix is seeking an Entry-Level Software Engineer at our facility located at 130 Perinton Parkway in Fairport, NY. In this role, you will join our engineering team to help design, develop, test, and support software used with intrusion alarm systems, connected security devices, cloud-based services, web applications, and customer-facing software platforms.

This position is ideal for a motivated early-career engineer who wants to grow across cloud services, web applications, cybersecurity, IoT device communication, and modern software integration. You will work alongside experienced engineers in a structured product development environment and contribute to software used in real-time security and life-safety applications.

Individuals in this role will participate in software implementation, verification, troubleshooting, device integration, and product launch activities while learning the architecture, development practices, and technologies used across Radionix security platforms.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design, development, and testing of application software, cloud services, and web-based tools used with intrusion alarm systems and connected security devices.
  • Develop and maintain software components for web applications, cloud-based services, microservices, APIs, and customer-facing portals.
  • Support integration between application software, cloud services, and Radionix hardware devices.
  • Assist with development using technologies such as C#, .NET/.NET Core, React.js, SQL, REST APIs, messaging systems, and cloud services.
  • Participate in a structured product development process, including requirements review, implementation, verification, defect resolution, and release support.
  • Work with senior engineers to understand software architecture, service design, cybersecurity requirements, device communication patterns, and cloud application design.
  • Modify existing software to correct defects, adapt to new interfaces, improve performance, and support new product capabilities.
  • Assist with unit testing, integration testing, automated testing, and software verification activities.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, design reviews, and sprint planning activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, test engineers, product owners, project managers, and technical support teams.
  • Support investigation of field issues by helping analyze logs, reproduce defects, test fixes, and document findings.
  • Learn and apply secure software development practices involving authentication, encryption, network communication, and secure cloud connectivity.
  • Contribute to user interface updates, prototypes, and component development for customer-facing web portals and online services.
  • Develop familiarity with IoT communication patterns involving connected devices, cloud services, event-driven architectures, and real-time system behavior.
  • Use modern development tools, including source control, issue tracking, build pipelines, debugging tools, and AI-assisted development tools where appropriate.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Academic, internship, co-op, project, or entry-level experience with software development.
  • Foundational experience with one or more programming languages such as C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or C++.
  • Basic understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, software design principles, and debugging techniques.
  • Exposure to web application development, REST APIs, or service-oriented software design.
  • Familiarity with databases and basic SQL concepts.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts such as IP addressing, TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, and client/server communication.
  • Interest in cloud-based software, microservices, IoT device communication, cybersecurity, or hardware/software integration.
  • Ability to analyze problems, troubleshoot software issues, and work collaboratively with other engineers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, tools, products, and development processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship, co-op, academic project, or personal project experience using C#, .NET/.NET Core, React.js, SQL, Azure, Docker, or Kubernetes.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts such as authentication, encryption, TLS, OAuth, hashing, public/private keys, or secure communication.
  • Exposure to IoT devices, MQTT, SignalR, RabbitMQ, REST APIs, or event-driven architectures.
  • Experience using Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jira, or similar development tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum development practices.
  • Interest in intrusion security systems, building automation, connected devices, real-time systems, or life-safety technology.
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools for code generation, unit testing, troubleshooting, or software documentation.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who is curious, collaborative, and eager to grow into a well-rounded software engineer. This person should be comfortable learning from senior engineers, asking thoughtful questions, contributing to real product development, and working on software that connects security devices, cloud services, and customer-facing applications.

This role offers the opportunity to build experience across several important technology areas, including cloud services, web applications, cybersecurity, IoT communication, networking, hardware/software integration, and real-time security platforms.

Additional Information

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $80,000-$87,000 annually. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc.

In addition to base salary, full-time employees are eligible to participate in Keenfinity Group's (US) Health and Welfare Benefit Plans—including medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance—as well as the company’s 401(k) plan, subject to the terms and conditions of the respective plan documents. Full-time employees are eligible to participate in Keenfinity Group’s paid time off and sick leave programs in accordance with applicable policies.
