Job Description

As a Research Intern, you will explore how smartphones can transform the way participants are identified in professional conference environments. You’ll work on a forward-looking topic that combines user experience, security, and system design.

  • Rethink identification – Analyze the current NFC card solution and uncover opportunities for improvement
  • Explore new technologies – Investigate smartphone-based approaches such as NFC, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and app-based authentication
  • Design innovative concepts – Develop a future-proof identification solution and define how it integrates into the Bosch DICENTIS ecosystem
  • Balance usability & security – Evaluate how your concept performs in terms of user experience, reliability, and data security
  • Make data-driven comparisons – Assess your solution against the existing system and highlight key benefits, trade-offs, and feasibility

Qualifications

Requirements:  

We are looking for a student who demonstrates an open and proactive attitude, with a strong ability to take initiative. You should be able to prioritize multiple tasks effectively and maintain a high level of organization. The ideal candidate will also possess the following qualifications:   

  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written; Proficiency in Dutch is not a requirement  

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or relevant

  • You have basic programming skills (e.g. Java, Kotlin, C/C++, or Python)
  • You’re genuinely interested in mobile app development (Android or iOS)
  • You bring a basic understanding of NFC or wireless communication technologies
  • You have a nationality of an EU member state or if not, you are a student at a Dutch university 

  • You must be available for 6 months

  • You are located in the Netherlands and preferably reside within reasonable travel distance from Eindhoven

  • You enjoy working at the intersection of hardware and software
  • You’re curious about secure systems, authentication, and embedded solutions
  • You have a hands-on, proactive mindset and enjoy building and testing Proof of Concepts
  • You’re able to work independently and can clearly document and communicate your findings
