Job Description

Position Overview:

The Curriculum and Achievement Manager is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional practices across KIPP Kansas City schools. This role collaborates closely with curriculum leaders, teachers, instructional coaches, and school administrators to ensure that curriculum materials and instructional strategies align with state standards, meet the diverse needs of all students, and support high academic achievement.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Curriculum Development and Support

    • Collaborate in the development, refinement, and alignment of curriculum materials that meet state standards and promote high academic outcomes for all students.
    • Support the Director of the assigned content area/subject matter in managing the curriculum development process, including gathering feedback from teachers and analyzing student performance data to inform revisions.
    • Stay current on educational standards, curricular innovations, and instructional best practices to ensure relevance and effectiveness of curriculum resources.
  • Professional Development

    • Design and facilitate professional development sessions for teachers and instructional leaders, focusing on effective curriculum implementation and evidence-based instructional strategies.
    • Provide ongoing support and coaching to teachers and instructional coaches, offering resources, feedback, and guidance to enhance classroom practice and improve student outcomes.
  • Curriculum Implementation and Evaluation

    • Monitor curriculum implementation across schools to ensure fidelity, identify areas for improvement, and assess impact on student achievement.
    • Collaborate with the assessment team to develop and implement evaluation tools for measuring curriculum effectiveness, using data to make informed recommendations for curriculum adjustments.
  • Resource Management

    • Manage the procurement, distribution, and inventory management of curriculum materials, ensuring that schools and teachers have the resources they need for effective instruction.
    • Oversee the curriculum budget, aligning spending with fiscal priorities and ensuring efficient use of funds for maximum impact.
  • Stakeholder Engagement

    • Effectively communicate curriculum initiatives, updates, and progress to all stakeholders, fostering transparency and collaboration.
    • Work closely with school leaders to understand their instructional needs and tailor curriculum support to enhance school performance and achievement.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in teaching or educational content development, with a strong understanding of curriculum design and teacher support.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams; strong ability to mentor and coach educational leaders and teachers.

Additional Information

Work Environment

  • Reports to work Monday-Friday and some weekends. 
  • A typical school or office environment with frequent interruptions.

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to work location.

Salary is based on years of experience, educational background, and level of expertise.
