Job Description

The KIPP Texas Assistant Manager of Campus Clinics will support schools to foster healthy and safe campus clinics for students to reach optimum achievement and wellness.

Position Overview

KIPP Texas Public Schools Student Support Services (S3) exists to prevent, respond to, and minimize the barriers to learning that KIPP students may experience. Since health and wellness and educational goals are interdependent, this position furthers the mission of KIPP Texas as it helps ensure that all students have access to care that meets their physical needs.  Reporting to the Senior Director of School Health Services, the Assistant Manager of Campus Clinics is a member of the S3 School Health Services leadership team and will serve as a manager of clinic staff and will ensure the operationalization of strong processes and systems in multiple KIPP Texas campus-based school health clinics. This position furthers the mission of KIPP Texas by promoting and protecting the optimal health status of KIPP students. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision and support of school-based clinic staff, including goal setting and progress monitoring of performance
  • Work collaboratively with Operations staff to facilitate a nurturing, safe, and caring environment for students within the school-based clinic
  • Participate, with members of the S3 team, in developing workshops for teachers and faculty on health-related topics
  • Implement School Health Services policies and procedures 
  • Interpret health information, observations, and assessments of students to team and recommend/arrange further health services as needed
  • Provide and/or arrange in-service training needed by personnel, including orientation and professional development of school-based health staff
  • Collaborate with other school personnel in evaluation and intervention of crisis situations such as child abuse and substance abuse
  • Provide onboarding to new clinic staff
  • Manage ordering, inventory and budget processes
  • Proactively collects and manages confidential student information from clinic staff as required for state reports and submits to Senior Director of School Health Services
  • Track care for students with chronic medical illnesses

Qualifications

Education and Knowledge

  • Must be a Registered Nurse licensed in Texas - REQUIRED 
  • Must have 2 years of direct patient care experience
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification
  • Understanding of child growth and development
  • Understanding of basic health care procedures 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; Experience collaborating with team members 
  • Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Possession of a passionate and loving attitude toward all children
  • Responsiveness; Follow-up and follow-through with students, families, and school personnel is essential   
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Proficiency using computers, printers, copy machines, and fax machines

Preferred but not Required

  • Minimum of three years of experience in school nursing or related field
  • Knowledge of laws pertaining to confidentiality of student information
  • Knowledge of school health and school nursing practice
  • Experience working with children with disabilities preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Qualified UDCA trainer
