KIPP is a national network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools in educationally underserved communities. Over 100,000 students attend one of the 242 KIPP schools that operate in 31 regions across the United States. KIPP Philadelphia Schools Public Schools (KPPS) is a part of the national KIPP network and currently leads six schools serving approximately 2,400 students in North and West Philadelphia. By 2030, KPPS will lead ten schools serving approximately 4,000 students.
Together with families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students to pursue the paths they choose—college, career, and beyond—so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.
Learning Extension Program Instructors (LEPIs) support robust learning and enrichment opportunities for high school students at KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy (KDCA) as they transition back to full-time, in-person learning this school year and tackle unfinished learning in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
LEPIs have three primary responsibilities: 1) LEPIs provide small group (~2-4 students) math tutoring to 9th grade students during the school day and after school. 2) LEPIs provide in-class academic assistance to students to support Teacher-led math instruction and 3) LEPIs support after school enrichment programming by providing general supervision of students and engaging a subset of students in a specific enrichment topic (examples include art, basketball, drama, etc.)
LEPIs are part-time employees who dedicate approximately 23 hours per week (Monday through Thursday, 11:00-4:45), and they report directly to the Learning Extension Program Manager.
