Job Description

Summary:

Operates and maintains coffee processing machines and equipment. Reports to Plant Supervisor.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-operation checks, autonomous maintenance, and set up machinery and materials for processing
  • Control and adjust the functions and settings of machines to follow processing instructions/PI.
  • Coordinate with the production clerks to ensure the product as instructed in the PI is moved to machines on time and weighed before and after intake into machines
  •  Ensure the correct product is fed to semi-automated machines and processed to instructions to avoid mixing and contamination.
  •  Maintain processing/activity logs on provided template during shift.
  • Supervise coffee movement activities to and from machines during processing and ensure the movements are in accordance with the PI.
  • Ensure product accuracy in relation to weight, outturn, grade, etc. for products fed into machines and processed products from machines
  • Effectively monitor production equipment and test the operation of machines periodically.
  • Follow established plant operating procedures and safety rules and regulations in the workplace.
  • Perform any other task as assigned by warehouse management from time to time
  • Service and maintain the processing plant as scheduled by the plant supervisor

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of food/coffee processing machinery
  • Attention to detail · Multitasking ability
  • Good work ethics, team spirit, and takes self-initiative

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of Diploma in mechanical, electrical, or production engineering
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the operation of production machines
  • Experience in the coffee industry and Buhler machines will be an added advantage
  • Proficiency in computer applications and report writing
