About the role:
You will be responsible for helping bring new, cutting-edge identity solutions, fraud solutions, data solutions and AI-related products to market. This role provides the opportunity to work on challenging and novel issues in the data, financial services and information technology space.
About the team:
The FIS Legal team is comprised of approximately 200 attorneys and paraprofessionals worldwide who enjoy being an advisor to and partner with our businesses to help the company achieve its goals. We work collaboratively with each other and with our business colleagues to solve problems in an effective and pragmatic manner. We view our role as one of supporting our business leaders in a variety of legal matters, and we strive to assist our businesses in meeting their objectives with sound, reasonable and well-considered legal counsel.
What you will be doing:
- Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and best practices for the business to utilize data and AI in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Conducting legal reviews for new and evolving products, services, and market expansions in financial intelligence, data and AI-related solutions.
- Assessing legal risks associated with financial intelligence product data collection, processing, and AI deployment.
- Providing expertise in technology-related matters, such as digital marketing, analytics, and governance, to inform and guide privacy and AI-related product decisions and strategies.
- Staying abreast of developments in AI law, including ethical considerations, bias mitigation, and regulatory requirements.
- Reviewing and negotiate contracts related to data privacy, AI, and technology partnerships.
- Proactively counsel various business stakeholders on data use and AI trends.
- Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and transaction documents with a focus on identity, fraud, and innovative financial intelligence alliances.
- Support new product strategies and initiatives by providing complex legal advice in a regulated financial services industry. Help scope and build scalable and effective processes for legal review and launch of new products, including drafting and maintaining product terms and conditions.
- Advise our product, engineering, design, and go-to market teams on legal requirements and risks related to development and implementation of new products and modifications of existing products. Proactively identify risks and recommend reasonable mitigations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather input on privacy, data sharing, data security, regulatory, and risk considerations.
- Navigate unclear areas of the law and interpreting and applying the law in new contexts and translate legal advice into actionable guidance for product and business teams.
- Work with the Compliance team to develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory expectations.
What you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or law or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience and a Juris Doctor from an accredited US law school and be licensed to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction.
- A minimum of 8-10+ years’ in the practice of law in a high-quality law firm or in-house environment, and be a seasoned, experienced legal professional with a full understanding of corporate and commercial contract issues.
- Strong knowledge of and interest in data and AI and their application to financial technology solutions.
- Strong analytical and advisory skills, including the ability to review and evaluate multi-faceted issues and counsel business colleagues on complex legal questions relating to various business matters, such as product development and compliance. You must possess the ability to use creative problem-solving skills to resolve issues in a pragmatic and sound manner.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with senior management, outside legal counsel, and internal and external clients. This includes strong writing skills and the ability to draft contracts, dispute resolution documentation and other legal communications.
- Strong negotiation and deal-making skills, including the ability to balance the company’s goals and the client’s needs, as well as the ability to deal with multiple parties with competing interests.

- Significant experience in negotiation of fintech or related contracts. Fully qualified career-level job.
- Proficiency in handling complex projects with little management consultation and ability to lead subordinates on a project.
