The FinTech business unit within Booking.com seeks at removing financial friction from the travel experience for both travelers and our accommodation partners. The role is key to gain a better understanding of what those financial frictions are, how we could address them and where to prioritize. 

About the role 

The Senior Manager FS Risk Office - Financial systems , is a strategic role within Financial systems, that is responsible Leading the FinancialSystems Risk Office, Leading the FS risk teams. and further enhancement of our ITGC,SOX  tooling strategy, as well as Training, Communications and Representing FS in External audits and internal audits and Risk  strategy that will enable the transformation of the Risk Function into a value creating capability aligned to Booking’s vision and strategy. 

The Senior Manager Risk Office  is a strong people manager And a Risk Professional 1st line) who will be responsible for managing The FS risk Team in AMS and Bangalore two sub-teams who have been positioned to set the Risk Function up for success for the future by driving operational excellence, enhancing our risk governance and providing data and insights that inform our overall risk profile.

A successful risk professional at Booking.com requires a dynamic personality and ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment. Furthermore, they  should be able to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, believe in the importance of data-driven decision making and strive for continuous improvement to drive beneficial business outcomes.

A vast and deep experience with SAP technologies and Experience in highly regulated environments

Responsibilities: key areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to

You’ll lead the FS Risk office. 

As a Senior Manager, you will be responsible for the FS risk function and be de facto the 1st line Risk Officer. This will include the overall responsibility on Controls,Procedures ,ITGC,SOX and actively managing Risks and Brining FS to the Next level related to Risk Management.

 

As a Senior Manager, you will be responsible for; working with the Risk LT and your sub-team in further developing the strategy of the tool, on-going alignment and communication with key stakeholders, and providing oversight over future design, implementation and change management. 

The successful individual will be responsible for; working without internal and external Auditors, Leading the Annual Audit and ITGC cross FS.

You will be expected to drive more strategic engagement with this team, and look for opportunities to bring more efficiency and operational excellence into our wider processes and Drive the risk Culture cross FS. 

Own and embed risk governance practices and frameworks to elevate the Risk Function and build maturity. 

Develop a robust roadmap to ensure the Risk Function is equipped with the knowledge, tools and expertise to deliver leading class service and support to the business.

Stay abreast of industry leading practices and tools / technologies and determine their applicability to Booking.com.

Provide input and insights into various Risk reporting capabilities, including Business Unit reporting, Audit Committee reporting and Risk Committee updates.

Lead and develop a growing Risk Operations team of c. 8 people, providing oversight and developing team members’ capabilities.

Help raise the profile of the Risk Function throughout the business by championing our values and strategy. 

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience in Risk Management with a relevant degree
  • Bachelor degree or higher in a relevant field (f.e. Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Security, Business, Audit) (Master Degree is preferable). Alternatively compensating years of experience (3 to 5 years in addition to below)
  • Strong experience in GRC implementation and management. Experience with SAP GRC module is A Must 
  • Strong experience in SAP Security  implementation and management. Experience with SAP S4 is A Must 
  • Experience within training and communications field, or otherwise strong background in change management
  • Advanced project management skills 
  • Advanced stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with large e-commerce or tech companies is advantageous
  • CPA, ACCA, CIA, CISA, or similar advantageous
  • Line manager experience  and Fluent in English, both written and spoken

 

Advanced understanding of and experience with risk management relevant fields, for example but not limited to:

  • Business analysis, Auditing/IT AUdit & Corporate governance
  • Finance concepts and processesSOX, COSO
  • IT Risk management and IT Governance
  • Enthusiastic, self-starting and flexible and agile work attitude 
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage workload, work under pressure and deliver on timelines
  • Handle multiple tasks, of varying and often complex content, generally at the same/similar time
  • Have the ability to split large tasks into logical, manageable and decoupled actions which are managed effectively and delivered on time
  • Strongly process, problem solving and action oriented
  • Curious and proactive in the assessment and challenge of risks
  • Independent & autonomous, while still a strong team player
  • Advanced communication and persuasion skills and ability to actively listen and manage conflicts
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a simple manner
  • Strong relationship building skills directed at senior stakeholders across the organization
  • Experience with large e-commerce or tech companies is advantageous
