Job Description

DESCRIPTION: 

The Accountant provides support in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting tasks and Assists in certain responsibilities that will allow them to spend a greater portion of their time on payments schedule and reconciliations.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assists with the day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the Accounting Department.
  • Performs the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensures that all invoices are paid accurately and in accordance with the department’s policies and procedures.
  • Performs general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and vendor reconciliation.
  • Administering payrolls and controlling income and expenditure.
  • Conducts Detailed review of payment requests with associated invoices and other supporting documents for accuracy, completeness, and conformity with project’s policies and procedures.
  • Prepares accounting vouchers and records transactions in the accounting system;
  • Drafts payments and submit them for review and approval, to be signed by the Senior Finance Officer;
  • Checks expense reports, advance reconciliations, and other documentation submitted by staff to ensure its compliance with regulations and requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with Lebanese laws concerning taxation, labor, benefits, and contracts. 
  • Assists the Financial Officer on financial, and payroll matters, and ensures proper documentation is included in files.
  • Assist in payroll.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned by the Senior Financial Officer.

Qualifications

While technical abilities are obviously vital, accountants are expected to take a more strategic role in the organization. The accountant has to be reliable and trustworthy and provide responsible advice on financial efficiency. Other skills include:

  1. Interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, professionalism.
  2. Self-motivation & The ability to work as part of a team.
  3. Strong Analytical ability and Numerical skills.
  4. Highly organized work habits and attention to detail.
  5. Experience using Excel.
  6. Minimum one (1) to two (2) years’ experience as an accountant.
  7. B.A accounting degree.
