Senior Network Engineer

This is a contract position.

This is a remote position.

 

About this position

As a Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in contributing to the development of the Client’s network monitoring and management environment. This position requires a solid understanding of standard models used in architecting and designing large enterprise solutions to monitor and handle network infrastructure.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of Client’s network monitoring and management environment by understanding standard models and architectures for large enterprise solutions.
  • Possess extensive experience and understanding of various commercial network performance management vendors and products, including Broadcom (formerly CA Spectrum/DX-Netops/CAPM), Cisco Thousand Eyes, Cisco Splunk, AppNeta, and Ignio.
  • Install, operate, and customize network tooling products according to customer requirements and best practices.
  • Work on vital infrastructure changes to support the operation and requirements of network management and monitoring applications, including submitting changes, acquiring approval, and implementing needed changes within the Client enterprise.
  • Schedule upgrades and maintenance of management and monitoring toolset by Client change control and approval processes.
  • Provide technical direction and training to Client networking personnel on the use and operation of Client network monitoring and management applications.
  • Collaborate with product vendors and Client purchasing for procurement of selected products.
  • Analyze system functions and failures to isolate and define problem areas, and monitor the reachability of all connections within the network.
  • Provide both on-site and remote technical support to ensure the continuous operation and optimization of the network.
  • Work independently and/or as part of a team to achieve project objectives.

 

 

Skills/Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience working with networks.
  • Extensive knowledge of network management concepts, strategies, technologies, protocols, standards, applications, and tools.
  • Experience managing large network infrastructures similar in size to Clients.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Experience with software development and automation strategies and technologies such as Python, Ansible, and GitHub.
  • Experience with data collection, processing, analysis, reporting, and dashboarding using Excel, PowerBI, or similar business intelligence applications.
  • Familiarity with Fortinet monitoring tools, Netbrain, Arista CVaaS, and other network management applications.
  • Ability to participate in the evaluation, comparison, and selection of viable vendor products supporting the Client’s network monitoring and management requirements and strategies.

Additional Information

  • This is a 12-month contract with the opportunity to extend/convert.

Pay/Salary Range:

  • Pay Range: $58 - $63/HR.
