Capital One is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to join our Card Tech Engineering Organization. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead, manage, mentor, and build exceptional software engineering teams that deliver game-changing technologies. As a Senior Director, you will have the ability to attract and recruit the industry's best talent. You will also have the technical expertise to ensure that we build compelling, customer-focused solutions using an iterative methodology. Your role within the Card Tech Authorizations organization will involve leading teams that build and deliver spend strategies to advance credit card usage across the payments ecosystem. Your team will collaborate with credit card networks, acquirers, and partners to provide amazing, next-generation credit card capabilities to our customers. From understanding the card payment ecosystem to supporting scalable and resilient platforms, you will spearhead the future of spend capabilities for our customers. We are looking for a candidate who can dive deep into technology discussions with engineers while also driving high-level strategic conversations. You should be a curious technologist who stays up-to-date with emerging trends and is willing to prototype new technologies. In addition, you should have a keen understanding of the business value propositions and be able to prioritize accordingly. In this role, you will: - Lead, manage, and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers. - Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team. - Work with product leaders to define the strategy, roadmap, and destination architecture. - Manage a portfolio of diverse technology platforms and projects to build scalable applications that meet our customer needs. - Continuously improve software engineering practices. - Collaborate within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using a full-stack of development tools and technologies. - Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions. - Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with new technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community. - Encourage innovation, the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity. Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree. - At least 9 years of experience in software development. - At least 7 years of experience with enterprise architecture, software architecture, or design patterns. - At least 7 years of experience in people management. Preferred Qualifications: - Master's Degree. - 13+ years of experience in software development. - 8+ years of experience in Agile practices. - 2+ years of experience working on credit card authorizations systems. - 2+ years of experience working with credit card payment networks.
