Position: Licensed Practical Nurse with Medication Designation License
Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse with Medication Designation License assists in assessing, planning, and delivering nursing care for a group of patients under the delegation of a Registered Nurse. They also assist in patient/family education and teach staff members within their capabilities and under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The LPN provides nursing care to individuals and groups, applying basic knowledge of the biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences under the direction of a licensed healthcare professional.
Responsibilities:
- Perform assessment duties, monitor and collect data for initial and ongoing assessments, and communicate any abnormal findings.
- Contribute to the development of patient care and discharge plans under the direction of an RN, prioritize tasks and treatments for assigned patients, and deliver nursing care.
- Participate in educational efforts of the department and unit.
- Provide care for the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of patients of all ages and developmental stages.
- Adhere to regulatory standards relevant to the nursing profession.
- Perform other duties as required.
Technical Expertise:
- Excellent patient care and communication skills.
- Experience working with all levels within an organization.
- Experience in healthcare is preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite or similar software. Experience with Epic or similar EMR is preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing or an Associate’s Degree in Nursing is required.
- Must have a Licensed Practical Nurse with Medication/IV designation licensure or be eligible for certification. Current Health Care Provider BLS training from the American Heart Association is required. Additional specific certifications may be required based on the department or unit.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience.
- No supervisory experience required.
Other information:
This is a full-time position with a 40-hour workweek, onsite at Akron Children's Hospital. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is available (taxable).
