The OpportunityWe are looking for a versatile midlevel Business Strategy Analyst to join our Deposits Forecasting team. This team focuses on the bank's production, transactions, and balances modeling.
In this role, you will use both qualitative and quantitative analysis to provide thought leadership on industry trends, market developments, USAA's strategic direction, regulatory environment, and macroeconomic trends. This information will help our business unit optimize its strategy and its impact.
We offer a flexible work environment with the requirement of being in the office four days per week. While our preference is for this position to be based in San Antonio or Plano, Texas, it is also possible to work from other locations such as Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA, or Tampa, FL. Please note that we do not offer relocation assistance for this position.
What You'll Do:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify key business assumptions and hypotheses around line of business strategy.
- Assist experienced Business Strategy Analysts and other subject matter experts in refining hypotheses and identifying business questions for further exploration.
- Develop an analytical framework and blueprint to answer these business questions.
- Evaluate and uncover strategic insights related to Profit & Loss performance, including Product Strategy, Pricing, Marketing, Sales, Credit Risk, Distribution Channels, and Member Experience.
- Utilize advanced data-driven problem-solving techniques to manipulate and interpret business results, translating findings into actionable insights.
- Create materials to effectively communicate the significance of strategic insights to senior leaders and key collaborators.
- Ensure adherence to risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What You Have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Science, Finance, Economics, or related discipline; OR 4+ years of related experience (in addition to minimum required years of experience) may be substituted for a degree.
- 4+ years of experience in data/analytics, strategy consulting, or functional business experience within the respective industry; OR Advanced Degree in Business, Science, Finance, Economics, or related discipline with 2 years of experience in data/analytics, strategy consulting, or functional business experience.
- Experience in identifying business needs and developing strategic plans using qualitative/quantitative analysis and market insights.
- Proven experience using data analytics to formulate data-driven insights.
- Proficiency in data analysis using tools like Microsoft Excel, Tableau, R, or Python.
What Sets You Apart:
- 3+ years of experience in Python or R.
- 1+ year of experience with SQL, databases, and basic database theory.
- Proven track record of solving open-ended analytical problems in a business or banking setting.
- Understanding of statistics, basic machine learning techniques, and computation.
- Ability to build slides and decks to effectively communicate a coherent story in formal settings.
- Consulting background, either for external or internal clients.
- US military experience through military service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.

Compensation: USAA assesses market data and establishes salary ranges to ensure competitiveness. Your salary will be within the range based on your experience and market data. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is $78,670 - $150,330.
